There were eight teams of players ranging from unsigned seniors to current freshman looking for off-season competition and exposure. I watched two games each day and admittedly so, I missed one of the teams plus some of the players did not show up when I watched.
Here were the 2024 standouts I viewed in the two days:
Styles Phipps Styles Phipps 6'1" | PG St Mary's | 2024 State #182 Nation AZ St. Mary’s
One of the top PG’s in the AIA showed off both weeks. His body is stronger and seems to get to the basket with his shifty handle and strength almost at will. He makes difficult shots in traffic and his court vision is truly college level. He throws next level dimes making it look easy. His pull-up from mid-range is his best move, and his pace to his game he plays at, makes his game go. He collects many steals with his quick hands and feet.
Chris Riddle Chris Riddle 6'5" | SF Kenwood | 2024 State #204 Nation IL AZ Compass Prep
A powerfully built guard is a stud downhill player. He can crossover his man and rise up from mid range to score. He gets to the basket and seems to bounce off of his opponents scoring through contact. He rebounds and pushes the ball like a lead guard and he will defend nearly every position on the court.
Ibrahim Souare Ibrahim Souare 6'10" | C Dream City Christian International | 2024 #207 Nation AZ Dream City Christian (Pictured)
A strong and athletic power forward is a big time rim runner. He springs up effortless and can go coast to coast and flush it down with some wow dunks. He takes long strides to the basket and gets off the ground to block shots in and out of his area quickly. His offensive rebound glass work is impeccable. The lefty can hit an occasional three and his free throw stroke looks good.
Thokbor Majak Thokbor Majak 7'0" | C Canyon International Academy | 2024 State AZ Dream City Christian
A tall, long and athletic center shows promise. He is somewhat thin but rebounds in his area and blocks shots out of his area. He can score on hook shots and has a nice looking mid-range jumper. He can make strides catching the ball but runs the court well. Most of his points come on thunderous dunks off of feeds.
Adonis Lafluer Adonis Lafluer 6'2" | CG Perry | 2024 State AZ Cesar Chavez
A scoring combo guard can pull-up from mid to the 3pt line. He can play on or off the ball and has a very shifty handle. His shooting is his best attribute but he can blow by his defenders with his speed and wiggle. He uses his stronger frame and quickness to defend.
Barron Silsby Barron Silsby 6'1" | PG Perry | 2024 State AZ Perry
A pure point guard with a good feel for the game. He plays at his own pace and is smart and crafty. He can hit the catch-3 and he has a deceptive burst he can use to the rim. His court vision and skill are his two best traits.
Lueth Awan SF 6’5 Dream Christian
A long and fluid wing forward can glide to the basket with very few strides. He is a little raw but he can hit the three and rip through and score. He is very lean but rebounds decently. Once he fills in and gets stronger, he can be even more effective.
Carsten Fuller CG 5’7 undecided
One of the smallest competitors in the showcase may have had the deepest range in the building. He is sneaky quick and makes plays. He is a good passer and plays from the neck up. The talented guard will be transferring since he is moving. He was at Willow Canyon.
