Here we’ll take a look at some of the most impactful big men from the Oklahoma State Tournament.
Bode Marshall | Forward | Impact Sports 2025
Bode Marshall utilized his 6-foot-4-inch body and frame extremely well down low on the block to establish himself, push defenders off of him and out of position, and also shield the ball. Marshall’s knack for absorbing blows and handling physicality so well gave him the ability to put points on the board within the paint at a high rate, consistently finding an angle to always get his shot up over traffic and through contact.
Hudson McCormick Hudson McCormick 6'3" | SF Bishop McGuinness | 2025 State OK | Power Forward | Next Level Oklahoma 2025
Hudson McCormick Hudson McCormick 6'3" | SF Bishop McGuinness | 2025 State OK impacted games as a pure competitor that did all of the dirty work and all of the little things that don’t show up on the stat sheet. Good communicator, great help-side defender, he relentlessly crashed the boards, set hard screens that got his ball handlers open, and he also excelled when challenged with defending bigger and taller opponents. McCormick was the perfect glue guy for Next Level Oklahoma, he played like an extension of the coach on the floor and the offense ran through him 90% of the time, defenses had to change their game plan to focus on keeping the ball out his hands. Hudson drew a lot of attention, the entire defense would collapse and close in any time the ball came his way. The 6-foot-3-inch forward worked the high and low post with continuous flashing, posting up, and pick-and-rolls where McCormick did a terrific job of sealing his man off on the cut while calling for the ball. The freshman forward racked up points with a combination of polished footwork, finesse, and force. Not to mention, his silky smooth post moves that come with a lot of explosive power behind them.
Kaden Mitchell | Center | Southern Assault 2025
Good basketball IQ and instincts, Kaden Mitchell’s best skill set by far has got to be his court vision and passing accuracy. He made fast and smart decisions with the ball on a consistent basis. He excelled when passing out of double teams and out of the post, and Mitchell was really impressive with his full-court overhead passes. In the paint, Mitchell couldn’t be stopped with the ball down low, he was unmoveable when holding his spot on the block, and very light, and quick on his feet for a kid his size, showing decent footwork, solid coordination, and good use of his pivot foot which he used to turn, pump fake, and get defenders out of position and off of their feet.
Johnn Sheffey Jr. | Guard/Forward | Team Nitro 2025
Sheffey Jr. crushed it on the boards, he had complete control of the glass all game long at the end of day 2, leading both teams in offensive and defensive rebounds by a wide margin. He even had a stint where he snagged 5 straight rebounds on 5 straight possessions, Johnn went after the ball as if he wanted it more than everyone else. Phenomenal hands, many tried but none were successful at pulling the ball from his grasp, he boxed out with good positioning, out jumped, and out hustled multiple players for the ball in mid-air using his bouncy first and second jump.
Ethan Taber | Forward | Tulsa Impact 2025
Tulsa Impact’s 6-foot-4-inch Ethan Taber completely changed games with his outstanding effort on the boards, creating extra opportunities offensively and limiting extra opportunities defensively. Taber proved to be a wildly Impactful rebounder on the defensive glass, even when he was boxed out it didn’t stop him from outleaping whoever stood in front of him, sometimes snatching it out of the air over two or more players at once. Great versatility on the defensive side of the ball, not only was Taber effective at defending guards out on the perimeter but he also defended the paint exceptionally well with blocks and consistent rebounding. Ethan Taber has a motor that just doesn’t quit, this guy can go all day and impact the game in several different ways.
