Minnesota High School Basketball: The June Calendar
High school basketball in the month June is a fantastic mixed bag of some AAU basketball, a lot of high school basketball, and some individual camp items. Where will our eyes be? Here is the June Calendar!
June 3-5: NHR State Tournament. The oldest Prep Hoops tournament is back for another go round and it will be the biggest NHR State Tournament ever at about 175 teams at 15u/16u/17u. This will be the 10th NHR State Tournament (remember the 2020 event had to be cancelled) so it’s ten great years of this event! This will be at Wayzata, Hopkins, and a few other spots.
June 11: Minnesota Gopher Basketball Team Camp. Ben Johnson hosts his first team camp and it will be June 11th on campus using the Gopher practice facility, Williams Arena, and the Sports Pavilion. About 42 teams will play three games each at this one day event with some of the state’s best teams.
June 11: Breakdown Summer Series. Mankato State hosts the first of 21 Breakdown Summer Series events in June across the state of Minnesota.
June 12: Breakdown Summer State Tournament. The Breakdown Summer series of one day events spreads throughout the state and goes on for two summer months. The biggest one though is the invite only Breakdown Summer State Tournament which brings the best of the best high school teams together for a one day event. Hopkins High School hosts.
June 11-12: Summer Showcase. Not invited to the Breakdown Summer State Tournament? Not in the Gopher Team Camp? AAU team looking for an event as many of your players aren’t playing with their high schools that weekend? Or maybe a high school team looking to face some AAU squads? A three game two day event put on by the Minnesota Heat is in Forest Lake that you may want to play in.
June 17-18: MBCA Camp. This invite only two day event brings together the best talent in Minnesota, South Dakota, and North Dakota with the biggest focus being on local high school players playing in front of a big group of division one coaches. It’s a weekend that D1 schools can be out so MBCA puts 126 of the best players on the court in a several game format so D1 coaches can analyze these players. The event is at East Ridge High School.
June 28. Breakdown Shot Clock Classic. The newest and maybe one of the most exciting summer events is the Shotclock Classic, a full length high school basketball game with three high school officials and shot clock operators so teams and coaches can get ready for shot clock games in our very near future. Invite only event at Anoka-Ramsey CC.
June 29-30. Great Plains Alliance. The Minnesota Comets host the GPA yet again and this is an event that commonly draws a big amount of NSIC coaches as well as MIAC coaches and others. This is one of Minnesota’s longest running events and an event with a great reputation when it comes to players getting local looks. St. Cloud hosts the GPA.
