First Team:
Alex Sherwood Alex Sherwood 6'4" | SF Xavier | 2023 State WI — SF — Wisconsin Crusaders
Sherwood’s game has evolved so much over the last year. The small forward just seems to get better each time that I see him compete. This past weekend, Sherwood’s smooth long-range stroke was on display. When left open from three, the SF won’t miss many shots. He is also very effective around the rim. He uses his length to finish layups on offense and influence opponent’s shots on defense. Sherwood has been a huge stock riser and he has certainly caught my eye this spring.
Khalif Bettis Khalif Bettis 6'6" | SF Burnsville | 2023 State MN — SG — Minnesota Chill
Bettis is a pure scorer who had some big-time games this past weekend. The shooting guard is a versatile prospect that is able to find success on the court because of his ability to do so many different things. He scores well from deep, from in the paint, and competes really hard on the defensive end. The shooting guard is a difference-maker who has become a name to know this spring.
Emmett Lawton Emmett Lawton 6'2" | SG Notre Dame Academy | 2023 State WI — SG — Team 1848
Lawton was no doubt one of the best shooters in the gym this past weekend. If opposing defenders give him an inch of space, the shooting guard is going to get a shot up and it is probably going to go in. In a big comeback win for Team 1848, the shooting guard made nine threes and scored 29 points. It was simply an incredible performance and it earned him a spot on this first team.
William Whorton William Whorton 6'8" | PF Rufus King | 2023 State WI — SF — Wisconsin Playground Club
If Whorton keeps improving and adding new elements to his game, the small forward has a chance to be really, really good. He stands at 6-foot-8 and has a frame that is perfect for basketball. He is able to use this positional size to throw down some impressive dunks. The small forward is also a tremendous defender who uses his length to disrupt the opposing squad’s offensive rhythm.
Levi Birkholz Levi Birkholz 5'2" | SG Lakeside Luthersn | 2023 State #290 Nation WI — CG — Wisconsin Crusaders
If Birkholz is playing in a Prep Hoops tournament, you might as well pencil him in for all-first team honors. He is just so good. The combo guard plays smart basketball on both ends. On offense, he is a tremendous slasher who uses his athleticism to get to the hoop and finish difficult layups over taller defenders. Birkholz is also a really good defender who is difficult to score on.
Second Team:
Isaac Nyakundi Isaac Nyakundi 6'9" | C MacDuffie | 2024 State NLG — PF — Starks Elite
Nyakundi is a very powerful post presence who uses his size to dominate in the paint. When the Starks Elite prospect gets the ball in the paint, he is very tough to stop. He is also a really good rebounder and defender.
Jamiir Allen Jamiir Allen 6'0" | CG Wisconsin Lutheran | 2023 State WI — G — ABC Young Lions
Allen is a super quick guard who defenders struggled to stay in front of all weekend. In the halfcourt, Allen is super shifty. He uses his great handles to make moves and attack the rim. Allen also showed off an effective three-point jumper.
Kyle Olebaygi — F — Illinois T-Wolves
Olebaygi is a terrific athlete who really impressed in Appleton. He slammed home a couple of big-time dunks while also proving to be an effective scorer. Overall, Olebaygi’s game is impressive.
Tate Petersen Tate Petersen 6'1" | PG Monticello | 2023 State IA — PG — Iowa Mavs
Petersen was able to score 37 points in a single game in Appleton this past weekend! And 31 of his 37 points came in the second half. Petersen has been incredible all spring.
Vincent Vandervest — SG — Team 1848
Helping lead his team to a 4-0 record on the weekend, Vandervest had another really productive tournament. He scored well in the paint and made some great plays on defense.
Third Team:
Deven Kulp Deven Kulp 6'2" | CG Mcfarland | 2023 State WI — SG — Wisconsin Academy
Mason Prey Mason Prey 6'4" | CG Newman Catholic | 2023 State WI — SG — Wisconsin Playmakers
AJ Lieuwen AJ Lieuwen 6'0" | CG Bay Port | 2023 WI — PG — Team 1848
Joshua Ofori Joshua Ofori 6'7" | PF Prior Lake | 2023 State MN — SF — Minnesota Heat
Aidan Chislom — SF — Wisconsin Academy
