Here are the prospects that stood out.
Emerson Tenner, Team Thad 16U: Tenner did a great job of facilitating in his team’s 66-34 win over Tennessee Blazers 16U. The 5-foot-10 point guard was making the right reads from start to finish, communicating on both ends of the floor, and pushing the basketball up in transition. Tenner did have a stretch where he scored seven straight points, which included a deep 3 from the top of the key. The sophomore is one of the best point guards in the 2024 class, and it just seems like he’s getting better and better each time he steps onto the floor.
Jahvin Carter, Team Thad 16U: Carter plays in the backcourt with Tenner, and it’s a perfect pairing. Both are unselfish on the offensive end, and it’s recipe for disaster for the opposing team. On Friday night, Carter displayed his shooting ability and his ability to take his defender off the dribble. Leaving Carter open isn’t a good idea since he can make 50 percent of his shots from the perimeter.
Gerard O’Kefe, Team Thad 16U: The 6-4 shooting guard got going early Friday night, lighting it up from deep. O’Kefe accounted for 23 points and let it rip from 3-point range each time Tenner or one of his other teammates found him on the wing or in the corner. The trio of O’Kefe, Carter, and Tenner can easily score over half of the team’s points when all three are in an offensive rhythm.
Jayden Jones, Team Thad 15U: Jones was a beast on the boards in his team’s 61-38 win over the Go Getters. Jones, at 6-5, was contesting shots at the rim, and on the offensive end, he was finishing through contact. Jones has the potential to be one of the top prospects in 2025.
Miles Sydney, Team Thad 15U: Sydney is a 6-6 wing that can score when he gets ready. He excels when he’s driving to the basket. There wasn’t anyone on the floor Friday eveninh that could keep him out of the paint. Sydney can knock down shots from the 17-feet out. He’s not afraid of contact, and by the looks of how his AAU season has went thus far, it’s obvious that he’s making progress, while taking the bumps and bruises of playing on Nike EYBL. Sydney is already a top five prospect in the 2025 class.
