Speaking of grilling, there are some basketball players from Michigan that have been grilling their opponents throughout the spring. Let’s take a look at 5 of these players.
Kaden Brown Kaden Brown 5'10" | PG Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2023 State MI (2023, PG, DTO Elite UA Rise, Grand Rapids Catholic Central)
Brown has been a consistent o to scorer this spring and has excelled in that role. He’s been an efficient shooter, knocking them down at a high clip. Brown was even named to the 2022 All-UA Rise Team. His stock as a prospect has never been higher and next level programs will want to take a look ASAP.
Chris McLavish Jr Chris McLavish Jr 5'8" | PG Kell | 2025 State GA . (2025, PG, CMB Runnin Rebels, Flint Carman Ainsworth)
McLavish should probably be considered one of the best all around scorers in the state. His fast and slippery, seemingly finding a look at the rim whenever he wants one. As an example, he stood out on the Prep Hoops Circuit at both Havoc In The Heartland as well as Rumble In The Rapids. He might have been the best pure shooter at both events.
Shane Rykse Shane Rykse 6'0" | CG Schoolcraft | 2024 State MI (2024, CG, United Persuit 2024, Schoolcraft)
This should come as no surprise since he was absolutely cooking throughout the state playoffs. Rykse has continued that scoring acumen throughout the spring with United Persuit. We got to see it firsthand in Grand Rapids at the PH Circuit’s Rumble In The Rapids. He’s got it done with his range that extends beyond the arc and his ability to attack the lane under control and find high percentage finishes.
Sonny Wilson Sonny Wilson 6'0" | PG UD Jesuit | 2023 State #189 Nation MI (2023, PG, The Family, UD Jesuit)
Wilson has been lights out this spring as a playmaker and scorer. He’s shown a well rounded game with his ability to hit teammates in scoring positions with a precision pass, pressure the ball, and get buckets. Just this weekend he had 24 points, 6 steals and 3 assists against Boo Williams.
Hutch Ward Hutch Ward 6'8" | PF Kalamazoo Central | 2023 State MI (2023, PF, Michigan Cagers 2023, Kalamazoo Central)
“The Hutch Ward Hutch Ward 6'8" | PF Kalamazoo Central | 2023 State MI Explosion” has been a show this spring on the Prep Hoops Circuit. In short time, he’s become a household name in Michigan and is in the process of doing that around the midwest. Ward is an elite shooter from beyond the arc and a tremendously improved finisher above the rim.
