I was mainly focusing on the 2024s and 2025s this weekend, so let’s look at the Illinois and Michigan guys who stood out in these 2025 games that I saw over the weekend.
Donovan Hamlin Donovan Hamlin 6'4" | SF Flint Carman-Ainsworth | 2025 State MI – 6’4″ PF – Carman Ainsworth (CMB Runnin Rebels 2025)
Hamlin is another big-bodied forward in the 2025 class, and he used his size and physicality to be a menace in the paint all weekend. He was not the biggest threat on the offensive end of the floor, but he did his work in different ways. He was incredibly aggressive on the glass on both ends, and he also protected the rim very well. With his plus wingspan, he is going to be a player to watch in the coming years.
Kam Hogan – 6’0″ PG – Fenwick (Future Basketball 2025)
Hogan was the best player on the court in their game on Saturday afternoon, and he seemed to be making play after play for his team all weekend. He has good touch around the rim, and he looked to get there on every possession. He handles the ball very well, and he is able to get to his spot, stop on a dime, and rise up for the shot.
Braeden Holder – 5’10″ SG – De La Salle (Michigan Goonies 2024)
Holder is a more undersized guard who did the dirty work all game for the Michigan Goonies. He is an athletic player with a plus wingspan, and he was able to make plays all over the floor. He was able to position himself well on the glass and out-jump many of the players on the floor. He also played top-notch defense. He is another glue guy who came up big this weekend.
Hayden Hubbard – 6’0″ SF – Columbia (Southern Illinois Storm 2025)
Hubbard is an athletic wing who score it well all weekend, specifically from beyond the three-point arc. He was clutch on the catch and shoot, and he really made some big shots all weekend long. Hubbard was also extremely active on both the offensive and defensive glass and kept several possessions alive.
Brian Jenkins – 6’1″ SG – Hamtramck (16U CTM Elite Red)
Jenkins is a bigger guard who was able to dominate in many different ways that flew under the radar. He was an animal on the glass, and he was able to impact the game in a major way without scoring the basketball. A glue guy like this is key to every team on the circuit, and he seemed to be just that.
Nate Marshall – 6’4″ PF – Fenwick (My Journey 2025)
Marshall was one of the better post players in the 2025 class that I saw this weekend. The aggressive post player showed some nice post moves and good footwork and some strong finishes through traffic on the inside. Marshall also sees the floor well and made some nice passes out of the post to set up his teammates. Marshall is still developing, but he had a great weekend for sure.
Xavien Moody – 5’6″ PG – Belleville East (Southern Illinois Storm 2025)
Moody is a smaller point guard, and he was able to get into the lane and both finish around the rim and seek contact inside to draw fouls and get to the free-throw line. In addition, he sees the floor well and got his teammates open with his drives to the hole. He has a ton of potential, especially if he is able to grow in the coming year.
Quintin Wiencek – 6’3″ SF – Plainfield North (Future Basketball 2025)
Wiencek was huge for Future Basketball this weekend as he was able to knock down three after three when the defense began to key in on Hogan. He hit four triples in this one, and he shot the ball with a ton of confidence. He already has good size and a good wingspan, so he should be a player to keep an eye on.
