I was mainly focusing on the 2024s and 2025s this weekend, so let’s look at the Indiana point guards who stood out in these 2024 games that I saw over the weekend.
Aiden Austin Aiden Austin 5'7" | PG Andrean | 2024 IN – 5’7” PG – Andrean (Team GRIII Black 2024)
Austin is a quick scoring guard who came up big for Team GRIII this past weekend. He makes the right play with the ball, and he shot it very well from deep. Austin also made some nice moves when driving to the hole to score at the rim.
Trey Buchanan Trey Buchanan 6'0" | PG Westfield | 2024 State IN – 6’0” PG – Westfield (GPP Black 2024)
Buchanan is another point guard who burst onto the scene last year, and he has continued playing well this year. He is a true point guard who sees the floor, makes the right play, and has a high basketball IQ. Buchanan also is not afraid to take the ball inside, and he can finish both over and around the defense. He has a bright career ahead of him for sure.
Joshua Cooper – 5’10” PG – Lawrence Central (D1 Indiana 2024 – 2)
Cooper is another point guard with good handles and good passing ability. He is smooth with the basketball, and he always seemed to make the right play with the ball. Cooper also knocked down a couple of triples on the weekend to keep the defense honest.
Bryce Gray – 5’9” PG – University (INB Elite 2024)
Gray is a tough scoring point guard who was fairly quiet this weekend, but he did make some really nice scoring moves. Gray has several moves in the lane and showed off a nice floater, a nifty up-and-under, and several tough finishes in the middle of the defense.
Mason Lewis Mason Lewis 5'9" | PG Crispus Attucks | 2024 State IN – 5’9” PG – North Central (EG10 2024)
Lewis is a quick guard who has a great first step and loves to attack off the bounce. He has nice court vision and passed exceptionally all weekend. Lewis also has insane body control around the rim. He is a player to watch for sure.
Wyatt Nickleson – 5’10” PG – Franklin Community (Marlin Elite 2024)
Nickleson is a smaller point guard, but he scored the ball as well as anyone this weekend. He sees the floor well, drives to the rim and looks to dish it, and he is extremely tough on the ball. Nickleson is also a smart guard who seemed to always make the right play. His main bright spot of the weekend though was his shooting as he hit several threes and a couple of mid-range jumpers. He is going to make a name for himself for an up-and-coming Franklin team in the coming years.
Jye Rudolph – 5’10” PG – Franklin Central (All Area Basketball 2024)
Rudolph is a shifty little guard who ran the offense very well all weekend. He may have had 10 assists in the first half of one of Saturday’s games. He also showed that he could score the ball with some tough finishes at the rim and a pair of triples. Good weekend from Rudolph.
Nolan Swan Nolan Swan 5'10" | PG Tipton | 2024 State IN – 5’10” PG – Tipton (GPP Black 2024)
Swan is another smaller guard who was lights out from beyond the arc this weekend. The Tipton guard has an incredibly smooth shooting rhythm, and he was consistent all weekend. Shooting that like is what made him break out for Tipton this season and it is what will lead to a great career.
Cameron Thompson – 5’10” PG – Lake Central (Team GRIII Black 2024)
Thompson is a shifty guard who looked to take the ball to the hole when he could. He is smooth around the rim, and he can also score it well from the outside. Thompson also had a couple of big plays down the stretch in games to help Team GRIII pull out the wins.
Ben Wilkerson Ben Wilkerson 5'11" | PG Park Tudor | 2024 IN – 5’10” PG – Park Tudor (GPP Black 2024)
Wilkerson was one of the better guards of the weekend, and he really did it all for GPP. He was able to use his athleticism and his quick first step to attack the rim and score it. He is also a high IQ player, so he was able to both move without the ball and get to his spot for his mid-range jumper. Wilkerson also rebounded the ball incredibly well.
