I was mainly focusing on the 2024s and 2025s this weekend, but I was able to see some Indiana (and some Illinois) 2023s. Let’s look at the guys who stood out in these two 2023 games of mine over the weekend.
Sam Bishop – 6’1″ PG – Westfield (GPP 2023 Black)
Bishop is a smooth, confident, scoring guard who was able to do it all for GPP this weekend. He runs the point well, and although he seems to be a score-first guard, he does see the floor well and does not get selfish. Bishop also showed off a nice stop-and-go drive as well as shooting lights out from deep all game. Bishop ended with 23 points and 5 triples, and he has a chance to step up into a big role for Westfield this season.
Anthony Ciaravino Anthony Ciaravino 6'1" | SG Mt. Carmel | 2023 State IL – 6’2″ SG – Mount Carmel (Greater Purpose 2023)
Ciaravino is a confident guard who scores it and passes it well. He sees the floor and facilitates the offense, but his biggest contribution was his shooting ability. He would go 5-7 shooting on the day for 17 points, and with his shooting ability, he has a good chance to play at the next level in the coming year.
Alex Forowycz Alex Forowycz 6'0" | SG Lake Forest | 2022 State IL – 6’2″ PG – Lake Forest (Greater Purpose 2023)
Forowycz is a guard with size who was able to do a lot for his team this weekend. The point guard has great vision and sees the floor, but he can also get his basically whenever he wants. He shot the ball extremely well from the outside, and he also got to the rim and finished either at the rim or with the floater. Good showing overall on the weekend.
Alex Romack Alex Romack 6'6" | PF Westfield | 2023 State IN – 6’6″ PF – Westfield (GPP 2023 Black)
Romack has been a stock-riser since the high school season when he stepped into the spotlight. The big forward can score it from all areas as he has good touch and nice footwork on the inside, and he can knock down shots from the mid-range as well. Romack continues to show signs of improvement, and he is going to continue to raise his stock.
Aiden Schmitz Aiden Schmitz 5'11" | SG Bloomington South | 2023 State IN – 5’11″ SG – Bloomington South (Indiana Elite Side 2023)
Schmitz is a smaller guard who can just absolutely score the ball like none other. He was lights out all weekend with 22 points on 6 triples and seemed to be the only one who was able to score it for IE Side. Then, in his game on Sunday morning, Schmitz dropped 45 points as he seemingly could not miss. If he gets it on the catch and shoot, he will not miss, and he will have a huge chance to raise his stock throughout this summer and into next year.
Maurice Thomas Maurice Thomas 6'1" | PG Depaul Prep | 2023 State IL – 6’0″ SG – DePaul College Prep (Greater Purpose 2023)
Thomas is a smaller guard who is one of the better shooters of the weekend, and he put this shooting on full display. Thomas had 18 points in their win on Saturday morning with four triples. He has a quick release, is money on the catch and shoot, and showed off a nifty step back to create space against the defense. Very good overall weekend.
Josiah Ullom Josiah Ullom 5'10" | PG Muncie Central | 2023 IN – 5’11″ PG – Monroe Central (Team Future 2023)
Ullom is another Indiana guard who has a great opportunity for a major rise in his stock over the next year. Josiah is a strong guard who always looks to attack and get downhill. He is quick to the hole, and he sees the floor well which allows him to make plays for both him and his teammates. Watch out for this kid in the coming year!
