Austin Brookenthal 6’4 Ohio Primetime (Bethel-Tate)
Brookenthal was one of the bright spots for Ohio Primetime on a weekend where the shots weren’t falling for his squad. Brookenthal impressed playing with his back to the basket and made plays at the rim once he got squared to the rim. Plays with a high motor and showed willingness to go up against bigger defenders. Brookenthal’s biggest downside is he is undersized for a PF. If he could add a little bit more to his length, he could be an under-the-radar target to D3 programs.
Jamie Rivers Jr Jamie Rivers Jr 6'8" | C Emmanuel Christian | 2023 State OH 6’9 CCB (Emmanuel Christian)
Rivers ended up being one of my favorite new names to watch from the tournament. Besides having a very large frame at 6’9, Rivers impressed me as one of the best interior bigs on the weekend. Excelled with his back to the basket and scoring over the shoulder. One dribble hook shot was tough to defend against. Rivers brought the contact to his opposing big man and went through the contact on the blocks. Rivers has the size and low post skill to be a D2 prospect or NAIA level player. Having talented guards like Jerry Easter and Jalen Brown should help Rivers with some exposure opportunities out of NW Ohio.
Cale Rammel Cale Rammel 6'5" | SF Fort Recovery | 2023 State OH 6’5 CLP Elite (Fort Recovery)
Rammel looks like your typical MAC prospect on the floor. Physically imposing, skilled, and fundamentally sound. Rammel gets downhill in a hurry and utilized his powerful frame to go through traffic. He showed a nasty midrange shot and was consistent getting those shots to fall. While he can get good penetration, Rammel will need to improve on finishing shots around the rim in traffic. He is looking like a D3 prospect currently and should be a name worth watching in the OAC.
Breon Hicks 6’4 Hopson Elite (Cardinal Stritch)
Hicks impressed me for a very good Hopson Elite team and did the little things to help his team last weekend. Hicks has some long springy legs that he most definitely used on the glass. Finished shots around the rim and showed confidence using both hands. Hicks’ longer legs makes me wonder if he will be growing more and filling out his frame. If so, he could end up being a target at the D3 level.
Tyler Galluch Tyler Galluch 6'4" | PF Catholic Central | 2023 State OH 6’4 Dayton Elite (Catholic Central)
Galluch has seen consistent growth and improvement in his game for Dayton Elite recently. Between being a good cleanup option and consistently beating guys off the bounce, Galluch can fill it up in a hurry. Plays bigger than he is at times and will get physical with bigger defenders. Galluch has the mentality of a PF, but he will likely have to be a SF at the collegiate level and will require a more consistent shooting touch. Galluch currently should be looked at as a D3 target.
