There were a ton of players and teams showcasing their talent in one of the best tournaments in the country. It was exciting to watch what the upcoming juniors and seniors are bringing to the table this upcoming basketball season. Here are a few players from the class of 2024 who really stood out on Day 2:
Moussa Samake I 6’7 I Forward I Thomas Jefferson High School
Moussa currently plays on the Castle Athletics AAU team. Moussa brings length and athleticism to the table. He can handle the ball and finish above the rim. Moussa was very impressive with his versatility and running the floor. Defensively, he is a solid rebounder and defends the paint. Needs to improve on upper body strength, but overall has a huge upside.
Parker Penrod Parker Penrod 5'9" | PG Troy Christian | 2024 State OH I 5’10 I Guard I Troy Christian
Parker plays with the Dayton Elite AAU team and he impressed with his overall game. Whether it was on the defense or offense side, he made play after play on the court. Parker can make shots behind the arc or in the mid range. He handles the ball and looks to attack when he can, and is not afraid to finish around the basket with contact. Defensively, he anticipates well and takes charges.
Braylon Isom I 6’3 I Forward I Saginaw Heritage High School
Braylon is playing for the DV45 AAU program this summer. He brings strength and is athleticism to the floor. Braylon can defend most guards and wings. He is very good moving his feet and anticipating the play. Offensively, he plays under control and looks to finish above the rim. The potential is high for this kid.
Brayden Szamrej I 6’1 I Guard I Hudsonville High School
Brayden is playing his summer ball with the Western Michigan Future. He was very impressive and efficient shooting the lights out beyond the arc. Brayden can catch and shoot, or create his own shot with his ball handling. He sees the floor well and makes precise passes. Defensively, he plays well in a zone defense. He uses is anticipation to disrupt what the other team is doing.
Ace Buckner Ace Buckner 6'1" | PG La Lumiere | 2024 #195 Nation IN I 6’2 I Guard I Saint Ignatius High School
Ace plays for the OBC Adidas Gold AAU Team, and he is worth the price of admission. Ace handles the ball well and gets to any spot on the floor that he chooses. Ace has a good feel for the game and plays under control. He can knock down shots beyond the 3-point line or finish in traffic with contact. Defensively, he can defend man to man and anticipates well. Ace does a great job on help defense.
