Continue ReadingI spent most of the day Saturday between Arsenal Tech High School and the Indiana Basketball Academy for the 2022 G3 Invitational before taking in the action at Greenwood High School on Sunday morning. It was a good opportunity to get eyes on a bunch of Indiana AAU programs before heading into the scholastic portion of the summer schedule here in the Hoosier state. On Saturday evening I outlined eight top performers and posted a notebook covering all of the day’s action. Now, let’s take a look at six prospects who did the most to help their recruitment over the weekend.
Joseph Annan Joseph Annan 6'7" | PF Pike | 2023 State IN (Pike H.S. 2023/Kyle Guy Elite White 2023): This is a name college coaches are going to need to familiarize themselves with heading into the months of June and July. Annan is a 6’7″ physical specimen that plays above the rim at both ends of the floor. Very intriguing set of tools!
Jamir Carnell (Ben Davis H.S. 2023/Circle City Shooters Elite 2023): Carnell is a physical presence on the block that has explosive leaping ability and gets up in a hurry to finish. Excellent rebounder with a non-stop motor on both ends of the court. 6’5″ Ben Davis product had himself a great weekend.
Mason Carpenter Mason Carpenter 6'2" | PG Richmond | 2025 State IN (Richmond H.S. 2025/George Hill All Indy 2024): A very skilled guard with a smooth jumper, Carpenter not only played up a year with the 16u George Hill group, but also filled in for a shorthanded GHAI 17u team on Saturday morning. Carpenter more than held his own in both age divisions. Creates his own shot off of the dribble and consistently made shots throughout the weekend. Top 30 prospect in his class.
DaJohn Craig DaJohn Craig 6'1" | PG Lawrence Central | 2023 State IN (Lawrence Central H.S. 2023/D1 Indiana 2023): Talented scoring guard that can make tough shots. Craig can get his won shot off of the dribble making tough mid-range pull-ups with his great elevation and change of pace. Doesn’t get sped up.
Alex Troutman Alex Troutman 6'3" | SG Anderson | 2023 State IN (Hamilton Southeastern H.S. 2023/Indy EBC Blue 2023): One of the best pure athletes at the event this weekend, Troutman showed his potential as a great driver, slasher, and dangerous transition threat.
Hunter Walston Hunter Walston 6'6" | SF Noblesvile | 2024 State IN (Noblesville H.S. 2024/Kyle Guy Elite White 2024): Walston is a super versatile 6’4″ wing that stood out this weekend for KGE White. He handles the ball well for his size, can finish around the basket, and showed the ability to make catch-and-shoot three-pointers as well. Lots of upside to this prospect.
