Loury plays on the National team for the Mac Irvin Fire on the Prep Hoops Circuit where he is the go to player. He has quality size and in the first half of the game we saw recently at Havoc in the Heartland was in all out attack mode. Handled it well in transition getting to the rim for several dunks. The transition game ignited everything else. Won on some drives from the perimeter on floaters and slams. Also mixed in a couple of threes. He was seeking his shot and scored quite a few points as an iso threat.
We spoke with Loury about his high school season as a junior at Kenwood.
“I think we did good. It was our first year and to get to experience making it to the city championship I think we are going to be even better next year.”
He mentioned the areas that he saw the biggest growth in his game this past year.
“More rebounds and pushing the ball up the court. Making everyone talk on the court and being a better leader.”
They had quite a dynamic 1-2 punch with Loury and Darrin Ames Darrin Ames 6'1" | PG Kenwood | 2023 State #99 Nation IL .
“It was good. We have been playing together since seventh grade and we have good chemistry together.”
What is he looking to show college coaches while playing on the Fire National team?
“My athleticism. Dribbling off screens and pull up jump shots. Off the dribble three pointers.”
The forward updated us on the latest with his recruitment.
“I got off the phone with Georgia the other day. Creighton is the other school reaching out to me. Those are the only two schools I can name off top of my head.”
He broke down what stands out about Creighton.
“They like how I shoot the ball and can pick and pop off the screens. How I can be an effective scorer.”
Georgia is also making a push for his services under their new coaching staff.
“I see that versatile players like me have went to Georgia and been successful. It is a good fit.”
Right now he does not have any visits set up but plans on visiting both in the near future.
