College Commitment: Tane Prictor (2022 Mountain View)
Tane Prictor Tane Prictor 6'10" | C Mountain View | 2022 State OR is headed to the D-II level. The 6-foot-11, 275-pound post turned some heads with his play his senior year at Mountain View and it earned him a roster spot on Team Oregon at the WAVOR All-Star game. He continued to play club ball into the spring as schools started to show interest. Of all places, Pittsburg State in Kansas started to get serious about recruiting him and Prictor appreciated the attention. One thing led to another and Prictor has decided that he’ll be a Gorilla.
“I went on a visit and really liked the coaching staff and I believe even though they’re new to the school we can start winning right away,” Prictor said. “I thought the team was hungry and had good chemistry and the facilities were incredible. Everything from the gym, weight room locker rooms were very nice. It was a place I could see myself at and a place where I can develop and really become a great player And as far as academics it had great programs for my major.”
On the basketball floor, Prictor saw a fit for himself as well. A traditional big man who posts up strong has become a bit of a thing of the past with other systems, but that’s not the case with Pittsburg State.
“I see myself being a big part of the offense,” Prictor said. “I’ve seen how coach (Jeff) Boschee utilizes his big men in the past and I think I’ll fit well into the offense. I’m working on my conditioning, losing some weight, and my inside game.”
As as senior, Prictor averaged 14.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks while shooting over 60 percent from the field – with many of those makes powerful dunks. St. Martin’s had also shown interest and Prictor also held a number of two-year college offers but overall the Gorillas couldn’t be beat.
“I had my juco options narrowed down if I decided to choose that route,” Prictor said. “But Pitt state was definitely the best school for me.”
Prictor finished ranked #30 on the final PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2022 rankings. Our congratulations go out to him and his family on his commitment.
