Trey Evans Trey Evans 6'4" | SG New Home | 2023 TX 2023 6’4 New Home High School, TX (Lubbock Matadors 2023)
Trey is a sharp shooting guard who specializes in scoring off the bounce from all three levels of the floor. I was very impressed at the ease in which he got his shot off every time down the floor. He is great at taking what the defense gives him, and has the ability to play off the ball if necessary. He makes all of the right decisions and moves without the basketball. He calmly operated out of the corners, and attacked hard closeouts with quick crossovers to get to the rim. Where he stood out the most was the ease in which he could stop on a dime and score over the top of his defenders. He easily scored off the bounce, and was able to get his shot off over seemingly anyone. I loved watching him attack defenders in the open court and calmly shooting over the top of them. He has a great frame with the ability to attack his defenders off the bounce and finish in the paint, or score in the midrange or beyond the arc. When he attacks the basket, he showed an ability to adjust his shot angle and hang in the air to avoid contact.
Zachery Rygg 2023 6’2 Veterans Memorial High School, TX (Nike ProSkills SA 17U Black)
Zachery is a very skilled and athletic combo guard who loves doing all of the little things on the court, but also making shots anywhere on the court. I loved watching him work to dive after loose balls, but more importantly going after rebounds. He came away with a plethora of rebounds, and I was very impressed with his consistency on the glass for the guard position. He plays the game at a high level, and is not afraid to take on bigger wings on both ends of the floor. He showed an ability to consistently knock down shots off the catch from the corners and the wings. I was very impressed by his decision making on when to put the ball on the floor, and when to pull up or quickly catch and shoot.
Michael Hall 2023 6’0 Churchill Fulshear High School, TX (Hoop Lovers Inc 2023)
Michael is a high level combo guard who specializes in getting into the paint and attacking the rim, but also calmly making the right decisions within the half court to initiate offense. I loved watching him get downhill and past his opponents in both the full court and the half court. He is a smart player who sees the floor at a very high level. He specializes in making crisp passes to set up his teammates, even going a hundred miles an hour as he is attacking the basket. He showed an ability to stop on a dime and score in the midrange when the defense gave him enough space. He took what the defense gave him every time down the court.
Azijon Luke 2023 6’1 Lubbock Monterey High School, TX (Lubbock Matadors 2023)
Azijon is an intense on ball defender who specializes in taking away his opponents angles to attack the basket. He has active hands and feet that have a knack for not only staying in front of his opponents, but also poking the ball free and taking it coast to coast. He lives on the break and is always one of the first people up and down the court on both ends. I loved watching his non stop motor and energy that he displayed, he never gave up on a play and always made the extra effort to be the first man down the court to be a passing option.
Johnathan Dupree-Buford 2023 6’5 Liberty High School, TX (Mississippi Delta Elite 2023)
Johnathan is an athletic player with his ability to finish at the rim. I was very impressed by the ease in which he floated towards the rim and how high he got on routine finishes and block attempts. He is a very consistent finisher, and can use either hand or finish on either side of the basket. He is a runaway freight train on the break with the ability to finish at the rim with strength and tenacity. He seemed to strike fear into his defenders as he came storming down the court on the break. He showed an ability to play off the ball and catch and shoot to space the floor and give himself more space to takeoff with the attention the defense has to take on him.
