Adam Herod 2023 6’2 Wylie East High School, TX (Better Off Living Dreams 2023)
Adam is an active player on both ends of the court, but makes his mark with all of the little things he does right on defense, such as drawing charges and wreaking havoc on the defensive end. I was very impressed with his awareness as a help side defender, he always was just a few steps away to cut off a pass to his man while also sliding over to contest a shot in the paint. He drew charges, and showed off his ability to leap by high pointing the ball at the rim, coming up with a few blocks. I was very impressed by his leaping ability, it allows him to fight on the glass on both ends of the court, making him a valuable weapon at the next level with his willingness to do all of the little things on the court. On the offensive end, he runs the fast break hard in search of easy opportunities on the 3-2 fast break, and uses his aggressiveness to get into the teeth of the defense and force them to react.
Josiah Jackson 2023 6’1 Lake Ridge High School, TX (3P Elite 2023)
Josiah is a high level combo guard who has the ability to find any space within the full court and use his agility and athleticism to get through tight spots on the floor. He has an incredibly consistent handle which he uses to shift his opponent. Every dribble has a purpose with Jackson, he is an elite combo guard who is one of the shiftiest players in attendance. I loved how he uses his long arms to finish around defenders in the paint, or wreak havoc on the defensive end. He moves his feet well to stay in front of his opponents and has active hands to tip passes in and play in the passing lanes. In the half court, he found his teammates for wide open looks after beating his man off the bounce and forcing a second defender to step up.
Will Patton 2023 6’5 Cypress Creek High School, TX (Next Level Elite 2023)
Will is a high level facilitator at the combo guard position with his incredible size and overall feel for the game on both ends of the court. I was very impressed with the ease in which he created looks for his teammates within the half court and especially on the fast break. He made timely no look passes that always had the defense on its heels with the pace and accuracy they were delivered with. He always has his head up to fit impressive passes through tight windows and allow his teammates an effortless look in the paint. He even worked to draw up his own plays on the sideline, further showing off his high basketball IQ. On the defensive end of the floor, he is aware of the opposing team’s off ball movement and actively works to cut off angles and passing lanes. His size makes him a menace on the defensive end of the floor where he quickly moves his feet to stay in front of anyone, or works on the block if necessary. Patton is one of the most complete prospects in attendance this morning!
Jamie Archelle 2023 6’0 Foster High School, TX (CyFair Elite HTX 2023)
Jamie is a sharp shooting and two way combo guard who operates very well out of the corners and the wings. He is great at using his quick hands to wreak havoc all over the floor, there were instances in which he just straight up snatched the ball from his opponent and scored on the fast break. He also showed an awareness to play in the passing lanes and came up with a multitude of steals by being one step ahead of his opponents. He is an aware help defender as well, who is great at switching onto the right opponent no matter their size or aggressiveness. I was very impressed with his ability to go coast to coast after ripping the ball from his opponent. On the offensive end, he is always moving around to create confusion within the defense. He is a great shooter off the catch, and with his constant motion and energy that he gives off allows him to hunt easy shot opportunities.
Eldric Barnes 2023 6’3 Aldine High School, TX (H-Town Gliders 2023)
Eldric is a high level player who is great at getting into the the paint with a live dribble. He is an incredibly aware facilitator who always seems to have his head up to make the right play within the half court or in transition. I loved his ability to create opportunities for his teammates, every time he drew a second defender he calmly made the right play whether it was a dump off to his big or a kick out pass to a shooter on the back side of the play. I was very impressed with his ability to pass his teammates open and create looks. At times he was a bit too pass happy, and made an extra pass when he should have just went up strong in the paint.
