Continue ReadingThe Big North Publics have seen some of the top returners featured earlier in the week. Now we turn our eyes to the Big North Catholic division, which is brimming with elite talent—In a way, almost too much to even post—We could take an entire week in this division alone and not hit everyone—There are prospects playing JV ball on these teams.
Today we look at one of the teams that could potentially win the Par A championship next year, Don Bosco Prep.
Dylan Harper Dylan Harper 6'6" | SG Don Bosco Prep | 2024 State #3 Nation NJ | 6’5” | G | Don Bosco 2024
Elite. Harper is among the top players in his class nationally and one look at game footage or in person and he passes the test. He runs the floor and looks like he’s floating doing it—He attacks the basket with force and throws his strong frame around. He can facilitate, he can finish, he hits the boards. An attack the rim lefty. He’s got a laundry list of interest and offers already and that will only grow. He exploded for 34 against Hudson Catholic and went over 20 against Bergen Catholic more than once. The Rutgers Student section attended one of his playoff games—They did the same with Omoruyi and he now plays for RU—Can the Riot Squad help land Dylan after Ron Jr. goes off to the pros? Time will tell.
Evan Cabral Evan Cabral 6'2" | CG Don Bosco Prep | 2023 State NJ | 6’2” | G | Don Bosco 2023
Cabral is a tough two-way guard who played a key support role for the Ironmen last winter. He uses his strong frame to attack the basket and finishes well through contact. He’s comfortable getting out on the break but can also facilitate in a half court set. He’ll be tasked with being one of the backcourt leaders for Bosco this coming year. His top games as a junior were vs Ramapo(22) and Seton Hall Prep(22). He’ll be one of the top players in the conference next year and college coaches should be lining up Route 17 to recruit him and his teammates. Scholarship level player.
Isaiah Brown Isaiah Brown 6'1" | CG Don Bosco Prep | 2024 State NJ | 6’1” | G |Don Bosco Prep 2024
Brown is a high motor guard who runs the floor well and can move the ball efficiently and effectively to teammates. He’s comfortable attacking bigger players as he’s got a strong build but can also hit it from deep. With two years to go, his productivity will only increase, as will his leadership abilities. His top games as a sophomore were against Stepinac(14), Ramapo(12), DePaul(12) and the recently announced as closing Mater Dei(11). He’ll be an in demand player from regional colleges, likely at the scholarship level.
Marc Herasme Marc Herasme 5'11" | PG Don Bosco Prep | 2023 State NJ | 5’11” | G | Don Bosco Prep 2023
Another ultra-athletic, ultra-quick guard who can run the floor, handle and distribute for the Ironmen. Herasme was a valuable piece to the puzzle when called upon and is at his best when he gets to lead the break and run the floor. He had 12 vs Mater Dei and 10 vs Paramus Catholic, but his job is primarily to facilitate, run the floor and move the ball to his teammates. Herasme stat line doesn’t “jump off the page” but when you actually get to see him, you just know. College ballplayer who could push to scholarship level with a good summer and senior year.
Brady Loughlin Brady Loughlin 6'4" | SG Don Bosco Prep | 2025 State NJ | 6’4” | G | Don Bosco Prep 2025
A loaded Ironmen team has a plethora of young options who are playing like upperclassmen already and Loughlin is one of them. Silky smooth shooter who can move well off the ball and create space for himself to get a shot and can also create his own shot off the dribble. His job was to learn as a freshman. He’ll be asked to contribute as a sophomore before being a true leader as an upperclassman. Another scholarship player.
