Raoul Vaidya Raoul Vaidya 6'0" | PG Maple Grove | 2023 State MN — PG — Northstar Titans
I really like what Vaidya brings to the table as a point guard. He does everything that you would want a true point guard to do. He can hit outside shots, slash to the hoop, and get teammates involved. I really liked how Vaidya took control of his team’s offense. He did a great job of making sure that his teammates got plenty of open looks.
Trey Smith Trey Smith 6'7" | SF Osseo | 2023 State MN — F — Northstar Titans
Smith is a prospect that has made a habit out of making highlight-worthy plays. The 6-foot-7 forward is super athletic. He caught my eye earlier in the day by throwing down some huge dunks. I was able to watch him a little bit more later in the afternoon and I really liked what I saw. The Northstar Titans prospect is an effective scorer who can score really well when he is able to drive to the cup.
Colby Dolphin Colby Dolphin 5'10" | PG Kennedy | 2023 State IA — PG — Iowa Prep
Not sure that Dolphin has the upside that some of his fellow point guards have, but I do know one thing: If I was drafting a team, I would want Dolphin on my roster. The point guard stands at just 6-foot, but he welcomes contact when attacking the rim. He has a very strong build, which he is able to use to make tough shots through contact. Dolphin was able to score 28 points in a big-time win.
Tate Haughenbury Tate Haughenbury 6'5" | PF North Linn | 2023 State IA — F — North Linn
I was able to watch Haughenbury play during the first weekend of April in Iowa. He impressed so much that he earned first-team all tournament honors. At the Battle At The Lakes, I once again really liked what I saw from Haughenbury. Even when he isn’t scoring much, the forward can still have a major positive impact for his team. He is such a great defender. At one point, Haughenbury blocked a three point shot and flew out of bounds. He quickly got back to his feet and then blocked a layup in the same possession. When opposing prospects attack the rim, they better hope that Haughenbury isn’t there waiting.
Darrin Ames Darrin Ames 6'1" | PG Kenwood | 2023 State #99 Nation IL — PG — Mac Irvin Fire
Man, Ames is really fun to watch. When he is playing at his best, the point guard is one of the best lead guards in the nation. He is that good. Ames was outstanding on Saturday afternoon for Mac Irvin Fire. He was able to score 31 points while also tallying five assists. Ames is a downhill attacker who can be tough to stop when he is slashing well.
Jack Janicki Jack Janicki 6'4" | SG White Bear Lake | 2023 State #277 Nation MN — SG — D1 Minnesota
Janicki had an awesome performance in a hard-fought victory. He was able to put up an extremely efficient 19 points. He did a lot of scoring around the rim. I really liked how the shooting guard played to his strengths. He is a pure scorer that just knows how to get buckets. Already holding a handful of college scholarship offers, look for Janicki to continue to earn looks from top programs.
Taison Chatman Taison Chatman 6'4" | PG Totino Grace | 2023 State #35 Nation MN — SG — D1 Minnesota
Chatman was the leader for D1 Minnesota in a huge comeback win over Mac Irvin Fire. Ranked as a top 30 prospect in the 2023 class, the shooting guard displayed all of his talents on Saturday. He shot the ball well and was able to tally 20 points. I knew that Chatman was a very talented scorer, but I was also impressed with his passing ability. The SG does a nice job of throwing accurate passes through tight windows to teammates.
