A 5-11 guard from tiny Win-E-Mac High School, Courneya had a huge morning for West Central United in their win over Wisconsin Academy Esters, scoring 24 points. A confident scoring guard, he’s equally adept playing with or without the ball in his hands. He does a good job utilizing off-ball screens to free himself up for open looks, using his quick release and extended range to burn teams from deep. Then when they close out hard, he’s able to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim for finishes with either hand, showing the ability to finish through contact. He sees the floor well and is a good passer and ball-handler who looks to get others involved.
SF Theo Schofield Theo Schofield 6'5" | PF Waterloo | 2024 State WI (Wisconsin Academy Esters | Sun Prairie, WI)
Schofield is an intriguing prospect from Wisconsin because of his versatility on both ends of the floor. He’s a 6-4/6-5 lefty who handles the ball well and sees the floor. He’s a willing passer with the size to see over the defense and he’s a really good rebounder, particularly on the defensive end of the floor. An explosive athlete who looks to dunk everything in transition, he’s at his best when he’s playing downhill, getting to the rim and attacking to either score or make plays for others, but he’s also a capable perimeter option with a smooth left-handed stroke from the arc. He has a tendency to fade away on his jumper rather than going straight up and down, which may lead to some of the inconsistencies with his stroke, but the pieces are there for Schofield to be a really interesting player for smaller schools in the Midwest.
SG Joseph Ascher (Elite 8 2024 | Wautoma, WI)
A 6-0 off-ball guard with a quick release, Ascher had a huge game against Team Rise Up, going off for 25 in their blowout win, including 18 in the first half. He’s a knockdown shooter who moves well off the ball, finding spaces in the defense to get his shot off. He did a good job looking to attack hard closeouts and get to the rim for finishes or dishes to cutting teammates for buckets.
SG Carson Awe (Elite 8 2024 | Kaukauna, WI)
Like his teammate Ascher, Awe is a confident three-level scorer with unlimited range, picturesque form, and the ability to fill it up in a hurry. Within the first seven minutes of the second half, Awe scored 11 points en route to dropping 26 in their blowout win. He has a really quick release off the catch and does a good job moving without the ball. He has great body control around the rim to score around contact with either hand.
SF Joey Fretheim Joey Fretheim 6'3" | SG Mounds View | 2024 State MN (Northstar Titans Brodeur | Mounds View, MN)
Fretheim put together a really strong all-around game against Illinois Hoops Stars in the Titans win, showing his ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor with his length and physicality. A 6-3 wing who competes on the glass on both ends of the floor, Fretheim is a high IQ player who can stretch the floor, get others involved, and play downhill. He had 14 points in their win.
SF William Kennedy III (Northstar Titans Brodeur | Monticello, MN)
A power wing who loves to take his defender down onto the block and score with his physicality and strength, Kennedy did just that throughout the Titans win over Hoop Stars on Saturday morning. He’s relentless on the glass on both ends of the floor, provides some defensive versatility with his length, strength, and athleticism, and he has really good footwork and touch around the bucket.
SF Trevan Krumrei Trevan Krumrei 6'5" | SF Kennedy | 2024 State IA (Iowa Barnstormers Black | Linn-Mar, IA)
The 6-5 wing was exceptional on both ends of the floor for the ’Stormers in their win over Sacred Hoops. He uses his length effectively on the defensive end, getting up into passing lanes and turning defense into quick and easy offense. He showed a smooth release on his jumper off the catch, keeping the ball high and with his size, he’ll be able to get his shot off pretty much whenever he wants. He rebounds well on both ends of the floor as well.
