I focused primarily on the 16U Division and wanted to bring light to as many players as possible. I did watch some 15U on Sat-Sun and 17U on Friday night.
There were 22 16U teams, which was 9 more then in Seal Beach/CA. So I made five All-16U Tournament teams featuring eight-nine players per team.
Here is the 5th team breakdown of the nine players:
Nic Corbo Nic Corbo 6'2" | CG Chaparral | 2024 State AZ Chaparral (Hoop Society 2024)
A high IQ combo guard plays from the neck up. The lefty can shoot and scores it easy. He plays well off of the pick and roll and will dime a teammate or burst to the cup. He can shoot it from mid to the three.
Faris Mucharbach Faris Mucharbach 6'9" | C Bishop Gorman | 2024 State NV PF 6’7 2024 Bishop Gorman (Prominent Elite 2024)
A long and lean power forward can score it inside efficiently near the rim. He is a sneaky good passer, he can block shots and rebound in his area. Once he fills in, he will be even more effective.
Quincy Kirk Quincy Kirk 6'2" | PG Canyon View | 2025 State AZ (AZ Firestorm 2024-2)
A highly skilled scoring lead guard was playing up and it didn’t affect him at all. He has a good feel for the game and he can score from all three levels. He has a polished mid-range pull-up and will make catch-3’s, He has a nice burst to get to the basket and makes tough shots in traffic.
Mason Hunt Mason Hunt 6'5" | SG Bradshaw Mountain | 2024 State AZ Bradshaw Mountain (D1 Nation AZ 2024)
A versatile forward does a little bit of everything. He handles it well, he rebounds in and out his area and he can make shots. He hits the three with some success and can post his man up. After he rebounds the ball he can push it up the court and find a teammate.
Isaiah Waters PF 6’4 2024 Vanguard College Prep/NM (No Fear Elite 2024)
A physical rare back to the basket type of power forward. He uses his length, size and girth to rebound in and out of his area. He scores on put backs (many times on his own misses) but gets the job done effectively. He can shoot it from mid-range and in and brings a physicality to each game.
Gabriel Emerson Gabriel Emerson 6'6" | PF McClintock | 2024 State AZ McClintock (AZ Select Jerrica 2024)
A rapidly improving forward can rebound and hold his ground versus bigger players using a strong base and girth. He can shoot it to the 3pt line and score on put backs. His shooting surprised me how well he has improved.
Daniel Jacobsen Daniel Jacobsen 7'2" | C Brewster Academy | 2024 State NLG La Cueva (New Mexico D1 2024-1)
A long and skinny true five-man was one of the best shot blockers in 16U. His obvious size and length allows him to alter or block shots in and out of his area. He can face-up to the elbow and in and he made a couple rip thru moves to score in traffic. Once he gets stronger, he will be tougher to handle.
Hayden Turberville Hayden Turberville 6'7" | PF Moon Valley | 2024 State AZ Moon Valley (AZ Firestorm 2024-1) (Pictured)
A strong power forward was my 1st look at him. He will block shots in his area and rebounds well with his frame. He has wider shoulders and long arms. He can step out and shoot the 3 or drive it and score on runners or offensive put backs. He can rip thru and and score with a quick move, layup or runner.
Ryan Calcaterra Ryan Calcaterra 6'2" | PG Thunderbird | 2024 State AZ Thunderbird (AZ Firestorm 2024-1)
A good sized lead guard who is a cerebral play maker and scorer. He can hit the three and get to the rim with his size and quickness. He is one to track for the Titans and he should make a leap up in production next season.
