I focused primarily on the 16U Division and wanted to bring light to as many players as possible. I did watch some 15U on Sat-Sun and 17U on Friday night.
There were 22 16U teams, which was 9 more then in Seal Beach/CA. So I made five All-16U Tournament teams featuring eight-nine players per team.
Here is the 4th team breakdown of the nine players:
Lucas Gregg Lucas Gregg 6'6" | PF Chaparral | 2024 AZ Chaparral (Hoop Society 2024)
A strong framed power forward is a great pick setter and will role to the basket to score. He can step out and hit the three and grabs rebounds in and out of his area. He looks like he grew a couple inches making him a tougher cover.
Ryan Dixon PF 6’6 2024 Valor Christian/CO (Team Revenge 2024)
A physical forward who likes to bang inside. He elevates high on his jumpers and can fall away and score it versus size. He runs the court and will play above the rim on the break. He will challenge shots at the rim and plays aggressively.
Caprice Brown Caprice Brown 6'5" | SG Spring Valley | 2024 State NV Palo Verde (Prominent Elite 2024) (Pictured)
A long 3 and D type of wing. He has a strap from the arc and gets it off quickly with beautiful form. He uses his long arms to play the passing lanes and he will defend the 1-4. He rebounds well and is good in transition.
Owen Bugas G 6’0 2024 Archie Williams/CA (Team Rampage Elite 2024)
A high IQ shooter gets hot quickly. He has a pure stroke from the 3pt line and gets rolling. He can drive the lane but prefers shooting it from the perimeter. He can play some on the ball and will make a play.
Maliq Thomas SF 6’2 2024 Etiwanda/CA (Rancho Elite 2024)
A downhill defensive guard. The lefty has an aggressive approach on defense and is physical inside. He has an explosive second jump to rebound or block shots. He uses a quick burst to get to the basket and will finish thru contact with a sturdy frame. He didn’t play with them in Seal Beach and impressed this past weekend.
Nathan Wanjohi Nathan Wanjohi 6'6" | PF Phhoenix Prep | 2024 AZ (D1 Nation AZ 2024)
A long undersized power forward with impeccable post footwork. He rebounds well in and out of his area. He can make shots from the elbow and in and moves in space to defend. He could have a bigger role next year for the Eagles and should get on the glass and score.
Cian Phipps SF 6’2 2024 Riverside Poly/CA (Gamepoint Inland Empire 2024)
A sturdy framed wing shooter is very steady. He squares up and releases the ball quickly. He makes good decisions and always seems to take care of the ball with a big IQ. He can rebound boxing his man out and can drive the lane to score on floaters, runners and put backs.
Jacob Casillas PG 5’10 2024 Murrieta Valley/CA (Gamepoint Inland Empire 2024)
A fluid scoring lead guard has volleyball line range. The lefty may be a little undersized but has a shifty handle, quickness with the ball, a good feel for the game and makes smart reads to his teammates. He plays with confidence and skill.
Logan De Marie CG 5’8 2023 Mountain Pointe (AZ Firestorm 2024-1)
A tough and physical guard is a shot maker. He can hit from mid to the 3pt line and get to the basket carving his way through the defense. He can make some plays for his team but is a score first type of guard. He went through stretches where he was difficult to stop on all three levels.
