Ryan Atkins (Team Ramey): A 6’2″ guard from Cardinal Ritter who helped his team to the 16U championship. He was consistently getting into the lane with his quick first step, which resulted in a number of layups and runners. He was also making open 3-pointers off the catch.
Jaylin Burns (Hardwood Elite): A 6’5″ combo forward from Cardinal Ritter who had a versatile offensive package. He could catch it in the post and score on a variety of finesse moves. He liked the one-legged step back in the mid-post. He was also comfortable handling the ball and knocking down the Corner 3-pointers.
Kendall Horton (Dig Deep): A 6’1″ guard from Park Hills Central who played at a very good pace. He was constantly probing and finding seams in the defense to attack. He was very effective when he was getting downhill as he could score at different angles and he used his body to draw contact and get to the free throw line.
Lucas Tran (Hardwood Elite): A 6’5″ forward from Lafayette who was very athletic and played with a lot of energy. He was always looking to attack on the dribble and he also crashed the offensive boards for putbacks. He also threw down a couple of dunks in transition to showcase his athleticism.
Christian Honkomp (Arsenal Hoops): A 6’2 guard from CBC who had an impressive day in the game I watched on Saturday. He had a nice shooting stroke from 3-point range and he did a good job moving without the ball to get himself open. He also has some crafty handles to create a shot.
Luke Powell (St Louis Cobras Select 17U): A 6’0″ guard from Pattonville who did a solid job while playing up at the 17U level. He is an excellent slashing threat who was under control and very smooth on the drive. He picked his spots to attack as he didn’t force the issue too much. His 3-point shooting was also solid as he kept defenders honest.
