Continue ReadingThe Adidas May Classic is always one of the top events of the spring and summer months in Indiana and took place this past weekend in the greater Indianapolis area. While a lot of our eyes here at Prep Hoops were focused on our Havoc in the Heartland event, we want to make sure to provide some coverage from the other top in-state event as well. After perusing Twitter, talking with some coaches, and checking out available highlights here are some of the top individual performances from the Adidas May Classic.
Drew Cook Drew Cook 6'0" | SG Northview | 2023 State IN (Northview H.S. 2023/Kyle Guy Elite White 2023): Cook put together a handful of strong performances over the weekend scoring the ball off of drives to the basket and knocking in some three’s. Just an all-around scoring threat that has played well all spring long for Kyle Guy Elite White.
Camden Craig Camden Craig 6'4" | SF Switzerland County | 2025 State IN (Switzerland County H.S. 2025/Indiana Elite Defenders 2025): In terms of freshmen that you need to become familiar with, this southern Indiana product is towards the top of the list. Versatile guard that had a strong showing against some of the top competition in the state at the Adidas May Classic.
Devaon Holman (Warren Central H.S. 2023/Indiana Elite Central 2023): An under-the-radar prospect, Holman broke out this weekend with a couple of good scoring performances for Indiana Elite Central. The 6’2″ guard is a great on-ball defender and will become a nice prospect as his offensive skill continues to catch up. Quick and athletic driver.
Carter Kent Carter Kent 6'0" | PG Jennings County | 2025 State IN (Jennings County H.S. 2025/Indiana Elite Team Indiana 2025): Smaller guard that can flat out get buckets. Kent shoots it well from beyond the arc and scored it at a high level once again this weekend for Team Indiana. He is one of better shot-makers in the Class of 2025 and has proven it with a great spring.
Braylon Mullins Braylon Mullins 6'6" | SG Greenfield-Central | 2025 State #123 Nation IN (Greenfield Central H.S. 2025/Indiana Elite 2025): Every weekend of the spring so far this 6’3″ guard has impressed with his three-level scoring ability. That is an overused scouting term, but Mullins definitely fits the bill. He was excellent once again at the Adidas May Classic leading Indiana Elite 2025 to the championship game before falling to All Ohio Red. One of the top prospects in his class.
Joshua Renfro Joshua Renfro 6'2" | SG Christian Academy | 2025 State IN (Christian Academy of Indiana 2025/Indiana Elite Defenders 2025): After several great shooting performances over the weekend, Renfro has solidified himself as one of the top catch-and-shoot prospects in the 2025 class. One of several good prospects out of southern Indiana for the Indiana Elite Defenders, Renfro has been one of their stop scorers all spring.
Preston Ross Preston Ross 6'8" | PF Bishop Dwenger | 2023 State IN (Bishop Dwenger H.S. 2023/Indy Heat Red 2023): It has been a productive spring for this 6’8″ forward. Ross has a ton of potential as a rim protector and interior presence. He put together a couple of strong games for Indy Heat Red once again at the Adidas May Classic and continues to be a high upside prospect for college coaches to jump on.
Gavin Welch Gavin Welch 6'6" | SF New Castle | 2023 State IN (New Castle H.S. 2023/Kyle Guy Elite Black 2023): This versatile 6’5″ forward continues to have a great spring for Kyle Guy Elite. Does a lot of things well on the offensive end including attacking closeouts off the bounce, slashing to the basket, and finishing inside. Good rebounder and can defend multiple positions too. Intriguing college prospect for sure.
