Continue ReadingThe Adidas May Classic is always one of the top events of the spring and summer months in Indiana and took place this past weekend in the greater Indianapolis area. While a lot of our eyes here at Prep Hoops were focused on our Havoc in the Heartland event, we want to make sure to provide some coverage from the other top in-state event as well. After perusing Twitter, talking with some coaches, and checking out available highlights here are some of the top individual performances from the Adidas May Classic.
Luke Almodovar Luke Almodovar 6'2" | SG Noblesville | 2023 State IN (Noblesville H.S. 2023/Indiana Elite Team Indiana 2023): This left-handed guard from Noblesville continued his strong spring helping lead Team Indiana to a semifinal spot in the Adidas May Classic. Almodovar is a great athlete with scoring prowess from all different levels on the floor. Definitely should continue to generate more college interest.
Flory Bidunga Flory Bidunga 6'9" | C Kokomo | 2024 State #7 Nation IN (Kokomo H.S. 2024/Indiana Elite 2024): You just can’t say enough about the “blowup” that Bidunga is having this AAU season. After a great sophomore year, his first at Kokomo H.S., the 6’10″ center has gained national buzz this spring. He was great this weekend once again as the 16u Indiana Elite group won their division at the Adidas May Classic.
Jordan Lomax Jordan Lomax 6'3" | SG Brownsburg | 2024 State IN (Avon H.S. 2024/Indy Heat Red 2024): Lomax turned in a pair of electric performances on Saturday as Indy Heat Red went 2-0 on the day as the 6’3″ athletic guard scored 26 and 27 points in the two contests. One of the better pure scorers in the 2024 class, Lomax continues to showcase his ability to get to the basket and finish above the rim.
Dylan Moles Dylan Moles 6'3" | PG Greenfield-Central | 2023 State IN (Greenfield Central H.S. 2023/Kyle Guy Elite Black 2023): In terms of raw shot-making ability, Moles has showcased that skill in spades throughout the spring for Kyle Guy Elite. He can fill it up from beyond the arc while also creating his own shot off the dribble with a silky-smooth jumper. Moles went 13-15 on Saturday pouring in 29 points. More small college offers should definitely be in the works for this 6’2″ guard.
JaQualon Roberts JaQualon Roberts 6'8" | PF Bloomington North | 2023 State IN (Bloomington H.S. North 2023/Indiana Elite 2023): Roberts continues to show improvements to his game this spring. The 6’7″ forward is living above the rim whether it be attacking closeouts off of the dribble, running the floor in transition, or crashing the offensive glass. He has solidified himself as one of the top prospects in the state.
Robert Sorensen Robert Sorensen 6'0" | PG Guerin Catholic | 2024 State IN (Guerin Catholic 2024/Kyle Guy Elite Black 2024): This 5’11″ guard has scored the ball at a high level all spring long and that was true once again at the Adidas May Classic. Sorensen went off for 30 points on Sunday and helped lifted Kyle Guy Elite Black all the way to the championship game of the 16u division.
Ajani Washington Ajani Washington 6'2" | SG New Haven | 2024 State IN (Fort Wayne Concordia H.S. 2024/Indy Heat Red 2024): 30 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists. That stat line will always catch your attention. Washington, a versatile 6’2″ guard, put his skill set on full display over the weekend proving that he was one of the most talented guards in the 2024 class.
Jordan Woods Jordan Woods 6'2" | PG Hammond Central | 2023 State IN (Hammond Central H.S. 2023/Indiana Ice 2023): Woods had his playmaking ability on display throughout the weekend eventually leading Indiana Ice 2023 to the semifinals before losing to eventual champions Indiana Elite. The 6’3″ guard has great size and length in the backcourt, is excellent in transition, and is a very good passer.
