Chicago, Illinois. D1 Minnesota went 4-0 in Chicago defeating Grassroots Elite from Canada, Fundamental U who is a UA Rise team, they beat a top program out of Michigan called The Family EYBL, and their biggest win was against Full Package, the Prep Hoops Circuit squad that has been knocking off shoe teams all spring (got two more this weekend as well) but not D1 Minnesota. The rise of Tommy Humphries Tommy Humphries 6'5" | SF Totino-Grace | 2023 State #283 Nation MN continues as we are seeing improved handles, improved separation, improved shooting numbers in terms of consistency, and how you can clutch shooting to the resume because Humphries and D1 Minnesota beat Full Package at the buzzer in overtime with a difficult Humphries triple. Jack Janicki Jack Janicki 6'4" | SG White Bear Lake | 2023 State #277 Nation MN continues to play at a really high level, Pryce Sandfort also hit a buzzer beater in that game, and D1 Minnesota’s 20 wins is now the most of any 17u team in the state of Minnesota.
Twin Cities. The top division at the Fury Shootout had eight teams in it and both the Minnesota Fury Antl squad and Minnesota Heat PBJ 16s teams went 4-0. The biggest game of the weekend had to be Fury Antl taking on WOTN which was a two score win for the host team 62-57. Fury Antl beat the other three opponents they faced by an average of 15 points per game. WOTN won their other three games with Soren Richardson having maybe his biggest weekend of the summer scoring 15 points per game on average. Baiden Bean Baiden Bean 6'1" | PG Farmington | 2023 State MN also had a big headline hitting a long buzzer beater to beat the Crossfire in a game he was a couple assists from a triple-double. Heat PBJ beat Hall of Fame, Lightning Dunham, Crossfire Engel, and Fury Hayes. What was I alerted to and got locked in on? Patrick Rowe Patrick Rowe 6'6" | SF Chisago Lakes | 2024 State MN from Chisago Lakes. He’s a 6’5/6’6 long and agile wing that moves well and is coming off of a 15 point per game sophomore year. Prospect that is surely on the radar.
Lincoln, Nebraska. The Minnesota Chill had a very nice weekend in Lincoln walking out of Nebraska with the best record in the top pool beating a very good Pentagon Schoolers team plus they also beat the local Omaha Crusaders. Carmello and Carrington Mcneal Carrington Mcneal 6'3" | PG Tca | 2022 State MN were disruptive forces with their ball pressure and attack to the rim in all four games. Prep Hoops scouts mentioned the pair as game changers. Six-foot-8 2023 big Molley Komara of Park Center might have been the Chill’s breakout prospect candidate of the weekend. Explosive finishes, thundering dunks, and his shot contesting, low post defense, help defense, and help side shot blocking were strong in the four games. And what did we get this weekend? ANOTHER solid senior to be from Eastview had a strong showing. Elias Batala Elias Batala 6'1" | PG Eastview | 2023 State MN .
