Focusing specifically on the Grit Region, these five prospects have really helped their recruitment and jumped onto the lists of countless college programs. Here are five of the biggest stock-risers in the 2024 class from the Grit Region.
Reis Butcher Reis Butcher 6'4" | SF Brebeuf Jesuit | 2024 State IN (Brebeuf Jesuit 2024/INB Elite 2024): It didn’t take this 6’3″ wing long to make a statement this spring. Butcher is an elite athlete that has had some highlight reel worthy dunks on the Prep Hoops Circuit over the last month. He is great in transition, can drive it from the wings, and has a lot of versatility on both ends of the floor. Poised for a great summer going into his junior season.
Jason Jakstys Jason Jakstys 6'10" | C Yorkville | 2024 State #141 Nation IL (Yorkville H.S. 2024/Basketball Paradise 2024): You don’t often come across 6’8″-6’9″ prospects that just finished their sophomore year of high school that can move the way this forward does. Jakstys is a mobile big man that rebounds outside his area, finishes above the rim, and protects the rim well defensively. His recruitment should really take off heading into the summer.
Matthew King Matthew King 6'3" | SG Bosco Institute | 2024 IN (Hammond Central H.S. 2024/EG10 2024): King is a super athletic, long guard that is having a great spring on the Prep Hoops Circuit with EG10. He drives it aggressively, has the athleticism to get up and finish around the rim, and is a skilled playmaker in transition. Love his size on the wing at 6’3″ with plus length. Definitely a prospect to watch heading into the summer.
Luke Kinkade Luke Kinkade 6'3" | PG Neuqua Valley | 2024 State IL (Neuqua Valley H.S. 2024/Basketball Paradise 2024): Highly skilled guard that can create his own shot off of the dribble and makes plays for his teammates on the way to the basket. Kinkade gets to the paint consistently while also being one of the best three-point shooters in his class on the Prep Hoops Circuit.
Tyler Parrish Tyler Parrish 6'3" | SG Chesterton | 2024 State IN (Chesterton H.S. 2024/Team GRIII Elite 2024): Coming off of a 29-1 high school season that culminated in a Class 4A state runner-up finish, Parrish has continued his strong play onto the Prep Hoops Circuit. The 6’1″ guard is one of the best shooters in his class with a quick release and great footwork on the perimeter. Having a great spring for Team GRIII.
