Leading a talented Mount Si club in scoring last season (16.9 ppg) was sophomore Trevor Hennig Trevor Hennig 6'4" | SG Mt Si | 2024 State WA . He lands inside our top ten with his strong guard play in multiple areas. Trevor has an extremely high basketball IQ and makes smart plays and reads. Off the ball, he is a knockdown shooter and elite cutter, freeing himself open for a lot of easy looks. He is a nifty finisher who uses angles around the rim, slipping past rim protectors and flipping in layups and floaters. He showed a lot of signs as a quality smart defender too. We didn’t get a full look at him this spring or during the Wildcats postseason run, as his season was cut short due to a stress fracture in his back during regionals. He has plenty of time to get back and play at a high level, and when fully healthy, should be back into a large role as an upcoming junior.
No. 7 — Ryan Lafferty Ryan Lafferty 6'5" | CG Mt Spokane | 2024 State #320 Nation WA , 6’4, SG/PG, Mt. Spokane, Seattle Rotary
Lafferty is one of those players who’s talent jumps off the page. An athletic specimen at 6’4, he has a polished offensive game. He can drive to the rack, step back and hit the 3, and is a constantly improving facilitator. He may have one of the higher upsides of any guard in the state. He’s a solid rebounder for his size and has the ability to grab-and-go when he ends up with a defensive board. There’s a lot to like about his game and I believe there’s an even higher level that he’s capable of getting to.
No. 8 — Cade Orness Cade Orness 6'5" | PG North Kitsap | 2024 State WA , 6’4, PG, North Kitsap, Team Stuck
There is no hiding the fact that Cade is a highly skilled point guard who possesses great court vision. He really bursted onto the scene over the last season and is more than deserving of one of our top spots. He has the full package you want from a lead guard. He is a dangerous player to predict out of pink-and-roll sets and can pick apart defenses with his decision making. He’s one of the top facilitators from his class and is able to find open teammates, attack the paint, finish inside, and shoot from the perimeter.
No. 9 — Miles Goodman Miles Goodman 6'10" | PF Southern California Academy | 2024 CA-S , 6’8, Post/Forward, O’Dea, Seattle Rotary
Miles Goodman Miles Goodman 6'10" | PF Southern California Academy | 2024 CA-S has started to really get the hang of things on both ends and his skills and size as a two-way big man earned him a spot at No. 9, and he could jump higher as time goes on. He’s a floor runner, shot blocker, and has improved his offensive package down low. He’s got excellent timing when catching lobs or catching the ball in the post. He’s a great screen setter and roller. If he beats his man off the slip it’s difficult for a defense to stop him from scoring inside without fouling. He’s set to be one if not the top big in the Metro League next season and is a complete handful for smaller teams to slow him down.
No. 10 — Luke Westerfield Luke Westerfield 6'10" | PF Richland | 2024 State WA , 6’10, Post/Forward, Richland, Seattle Rotary
Landing in at No. 10, Westerfield was one of the biggest risers for me this spring. His elite size at 6-foot-10 for a post help him make an impact inside the paint, and he’s learned how to use that size. His strong rebounding ability can be game-changing when he’s inserted into lineups and does really well in a half court offense. He plays calm and engaged. When operating in the mid or low post, he’s got a go-to baby hook that keeps getting better. The upcoming season will be a great opportunity for him to add even more to his game.
