Today we take a look at some of the Top Scoring Guards in the rankings from our state.
#4 Kobe Smith Kobe Smith 6'1" | CG Andover Central | 2023 State KS , 6’2 G, Andover Central, Oz Elite 2023: The most dynamic and explosive guard in this years class. Smith continues to show improvement in the catch and shoot 3 game which is an element he did not have to show off much during the high school year, but it is another tool in a loaded tool belt. Really quick off the dribble and with his change or direction, can stop on a dime and get into the pull up game, and has great control when up in the air on drives.
#14 Britton Dutton Britton Dutton 6'0" | SG Argo Comm | 2023 State KS , 6’1 G, Ellinwood, SSA Elite Black (PICTURED): A smooth operator with the ball in his hands and is as crafty a finisher as they come. He is an ambidextrous player and is elite with his touch with both hands and with his attacking off the bounce. Really understands getting the ball off the back board softly to drop into the net. Is a highly efficient 3 pt shooter but needs to take more open looks from there as he like to get into his lethal pull up game in the mid range as much as possible.
#16 Jack Bachelor Jack Bachelor 6'0" | CG Washburn Rural | 2023 State KS , 6’1 G, Washburn Rural, Marcus Denmon Elite: A true combo guard as he can handle high levels of pressure and be a creator for others as a pg, can score it from the lead guard spot, or use his best tool his ability to move without the ball to get open or create advantages for him to score. Is one of the best pure shooters in the 2023 group with unlimited range from behind the arc.
#18 Ketraleus Aldridge Ketraleus Aldridge 6'4" | SF Highland Park | 2023 State KS , 6’3 G, Highland Park, All Arkansas Red: A great combination of skill, athleticism, and energy on the floor. Can take off from a bunch of different platforms and explode up to the rim and finish either with fiery dunks or crafty finishes. Takes a lot of risks when guarding the ball which leads him to get out in transition more and its where he thrives playing in the open court in attack mode. Can knock down kick out threes and open spot up shots and gets off the ground quick in traffic to score over defenses.
#25 Kellan Simoneau Kellan Simoneau 6'2" | PG Rose Hill | 2023 State KS , 6’1 PG, Rose Hill, Buddy Buckets 2023: Another guard with big time range from the perimeter shooting the rock off the bounce or off the catch. He stays shot ready and is not afraid of the big moment and can drill absolute daggers in big games. The Rose Hill guard is really good off the move and playing off screens and coming off them ready to make plays.
#39 Kaeden Bonner Kaeden Bonner 6'1" | SG Seaman | 2023 State KS , 6’2 G, Topeka Seaman, Run GMC: After a terrific run in the post season, Bonner has had a nice spring, continuing to shoot it from 3 at a really high level. Is a microwave scoring the basketball and can go on some big runs. Has really solid size on the perimeter and continues to get better and more consistent scoring it in the paint and attacking closeouts. Bonner is poised for a really big summer and could take another leap taking on the primary role of leading the defending state champs starting in June.
