2023 Jamie Kaiser talks visits, top programs, timetable
When you reflect on the month of April and manufacture a list of stock risers there wouldn’t be many names before you get to 2023 New World wing Jamie Kaiser Jamie Kaiser 6'6" | SF IMG Academy | 2023 State #67 Nation FL . His play and the 3SSB Circuit stage played part in ballooning his name to national recognition as high major coaches made it a point to dedicate time watching him play.
As a result, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Rhode Island, Utah State and Virginia Tech have all extended offers. I caught up with Kaiser after a solid performance in a win at Southern Jam Fest to discuss his official visit with Wisconsin and other relationships with schools who are joining the fold.
Wisconsin: The trip went really well. I like Coach Gard a lot. Coach Dean Oliver has been looking at me for about a year now and so, they thought it was about time to pull the trigger. I was really excited. It was really nice. I thought it was going to be small and cold, but it wasn’t like that and the people up there are really nice.
Virginia: That was a dream offer of mine. I was a huge fan of them when they won the tournament. I’m a big Ty Jerome fan, so it was exciting. I talk to Coach Bennett a lot and am looking forward to going up there soon. Coach Williford has been recruiting me there.
George Mason: They’re definitely near the top of the list and people may be surprised by that, but that’s like family because I’ve known Coach Simpkins since elementary school. I played with his son growing up and Coach Kim is just a great guy who is always showing love regardless.
Rhode Island: I was close to coach Kenny Johnson before he recently got the job, so I definitely am looking at them a lot.
Harvard: Coach Amaker loves my game. He came to a few of my high school games and came to all my live games in Spartanburg, so that was exciting.
When does Kaiser plan on making a decision?
“I’m not one of the guys who wants to take all of their officials in the fall before making a decision. Atmosphere of the campus when students are there really doesn’t matter to me because I’m a real social guy regardless. I’ll make anything work. Plus, with this transfer portal changing things, nothing is secure. If you have something and you want it, you just have to take it because the window is much smaller than it used to be. The tighter I get with a staff, the faster I’ll make my decision.”
