Below is the third installment in our 2022 Transfer Watch series. In this edition of the Transfer Watch, you will notice that two of the region’s powerhouse “prep school” programs are reloading for the 2022-23 season.
Jacob Beccles Jacob Beccles 6'3" | CG Constitution | 2022 State PA – 6’3” / Senior / Lawrenceville Prep (NJ) / Team Durant / Combo Guard: In 2021-22 Beccles played at an extraordinary level for Constitution — 23.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game — while guiding the Generals to the PIAA 2A title game. As a result, Beccles was named as a 2A 1st Team All-State selection. The logo range on his jumper makes Beccles a threat the moment he crosses half-court. He can also use his elusive dribbles to score on the fast break or in the half-court. His athleticism and bounce allow him to play above the rim. In his four-year high school career Beccles scored over 1,400 points. This summer he will transfer to Lawrenceville Prep (NJ) for a post graduate season.
Jayden Forsythe – 6’4” / Freshman / Westtown School / New Heights EYBL / Combo Guard: During the 2021-22 season Forsythe was a freshman starter for a Poly Prep Country Day (NY) squad that won the NYSAIS Championship. The Westtown School is adding a slick backcourt prospect who excels on dribble pull ups and possesses a smooth 3-point shot. He is a muscular athlete who can also finish a fast break with authority. This past winter Forsythe registered games of 25, 23 and 21 points. After the 2021-22 season he was selected 1st Team All-Ivy Prep League as well as 1st Team All-NYSAIS.
Jayden Kelsey Jayden Kelsey 6'6" | CG Westtown School | 2025 State PA – 6’6” / Freshman / Westtown School / Colorado Hawks / Combo Guard: Kelsey is an extremely athletic prospect who last season played a “three and D” role for Overland High School in Colorado. He averaged 7.7 ppg. and 3.5 rpg. while shooting 39% on triples. This lefty moves well without the ball, owns a quick release and deep range. In short, Westtown is bringing in a player who is difficult to defend on the perimeter. Kelsey’s long wingspan and solid basketball instincts make him an effective rebounder at both ends.
Argel Pettit Argel Pettit 5'10" | PG Devon Prep | 2022 State PA – 6’2” / Senior / Phelps School / We R1 / Combo Guard: Petit was a standout combo guard for Devon Prep who used high percentage 3-ball shooting and ability to score off the bounce to lead Devon Prep to the program’s first ever PIAA 3A state title. He is an elite level scorer who this past season posted a stat line of 15.3 points (35% from three), 6.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. When Petit is on the court, he impacts every facet of the game. This 1,000-point scorer will now head to Phelps School for a post graduate year.
Malik Rasul – 6’8” / Sophomore / Westtown School / Strive for Greatness EYBL / Small Forward: You have seen Rasul’s skills on viral videos as his SFG grassroots teammate is none other than Bryce James (youngest son of Lebron). Rasul is a long and bouncy athlete who can fill a lane in transition and finish with a slam. In the half court he is a force on the offensive glass who can convert on second chance opportunities. At the other end, those same assets make Rasul an intimidating rim protector. Rasul was a two-year starter at Sierra Canyon (CA).
