May will be another eventful month to take in AAU action before players go back to their respective high school teams in June. Here is a rundown of 10 players to keep an eye on throughout these next several weeks.
Elijah Adegbenro | 17u LBA Attack
When you watch Adegbenro play, it’s truly inspiring to see how hard he works on both ends of the court. He is a great fit for the modern game because of his versatility. Adegbenro defends multiple positions, helps control the glass, and scores efficiently.
Aiden Argabright | 15u New World
Argabright caught our eye during a preseason workout hosted by New World. He was the first person in the gym, demonstrated a proper warmup routine, and was one of the better performers in the gym on that day. Despite not playing many meaningful minutes during his freshman season, don’t be surprised to see Argabright become a prominent name in the local 2025 class.
Ezekiel Avit Ezekiel Avit 6'3" | SF Churchill | 2023 MD | 17u Global Squad
Avit helped lead Global Squad to a 5-1 record and a runner-up finish in the respective division at Pitt Jam Fest. His defense was nothing short of outstanding. Avit can quickly turn defense into offense in transition as we saw during his game-winner on Championship Sunday.
AJ Clark AJ Clark 6'2" | SG Menchville | 2023 State VA | 17u Team Loaded 757
Clark was one of the bigger breakout performers of the live period. He looked like the best player on the court most times and made impactful plays on both ends of the floor throughout his team’s contests. Clark will have a chance to show what he can do closer to home this month as there will be tournaments in the 757.
Sean Donovan | 16u NOVA Cavaliers
Donovan is a key player for the NOVA Cavs squad that lifted a championship trophy in Pitt during the second live period. He is a tall forward who can space the floor and rebounds his position. Donovan is a safe bet to parlay a strong grassroots campaign into a breakout junior season at W.T. Woodson.
Jadyn Harris Jadyn Harris 6'6" | PF Bishop O'Connell | 2024 State #239 Nation VA | 16u Team Thrill
Harris is on an upward trajectory after his productive sophomore campaign and bright start on the spring grassroots circuit. He is an industrious forward who will stick his nose in there and defend with tenacity, but is also capable of making things happen with the ball in his hands on offense. Harris should be considered a bonafide double-double threat each time he hits the court moving forward.
Brandon Jennings | 16u Team PUSH
Jennings is a tall playmaking guard who emerged on our radar during the high school season with St. Christopher’s. He stood out once again in Pittsburgh while doing a bit of everything for his AAU team. Expect Jennings to continue playing well into the summer months and beyond.
Frankie Mannino Frankie Mannino 6'4" | SF Landon | 2025 State MD | 15u DC Premier
Mannino has been as steady as any of his peers in the area since he debuted for Landon. He played well for Premier in Pitt, continuing to be productive as a scorer and rebounder. It will be interesting to see what Mannin adds to his bag as he continues to develop.
Josiah Massaquoi Josiah Massaquoi 6'5" | PF Jackson-Reed | 2025 State MD | 15u Team Durant
Massaquoi is establishing a reputation for his physicality and ability to consistently make an impact on both ends of the floor. When he’s not scoring, he is playing high-level defense and getting teammates open shots. Don’t be surprised if Massaquoi makes our preseason All-MAC list in the fall.
Shamar Sisco Shamar Sisco 5'10" | PG Freedom-Woodbridge | 2024 VA | 16u DC Premier
Sisco’s moxie has been evident since we saw him as an 8th grader making shots for the Christ Chapel varsity team. He is currently enjoying a fruitful run of play with Premier. It will be fun watching Sisco go toe-to-toe with some of the area’s best point guards for the remainder of his high school career.
