Joshua Whiteside Joshua Whiteside 6'7" | C Gahanna Lincoln | 2022 State OH , 6’7 C Gahanna 2022: Whiteside is currently playing for Nova 17 U and continuing to perform in the spring. Whiteside should be highly recruited by prep and JUCO programs. Whiteside is a great mover at 6’7 and can be a great switch defender for your defense. I also think Whiteside could be a solid option for programs that want to full-court press because of his ability to trap and protect the rim. Whiteside is far from a finished product, but I’d expect him to play Division I basketball in a few years.
Dennis Asoro Dennis Asoro 6'8" | C Eastmoor | 2022 State OH , 6’7 C Eastmoor Academy 2022: Asoro is another big who JUCO programs should be all over. Asoro put up all-state numbers as a senior, dominating the Columbus city league for double-doubles every night. Asoro has nice touch with his left hand and has expanded his offensive game. I wouldn’t be stunned at all if Asoro finds himself on a Division I roster after a couple years of development at a JUCO.
Magnus Entenmann Magnus Entenmann 6'9" | C ISA | 2022 State OH , 6’9 C ISA 2022: Entenmann battled injuries for a majority of his first two years at ISA, but came on strong to end his senior season. Entenmann was solid in the pick and roll and worked well off Mike Sharavjamts Mike Sharavjamts 6'8" | PF ISA | 2022 State #179 Nation OH passing ability. I also saw Entenmann stretch the floor with a few jumpers and he always fought on the glass. With his size at 6’9, 6’10, Entenmann should be heavily pursued by Division II and low major programs looking for some size this late in the recruiting cycle.
Mason Weisbrodt Mason Weisbrodt 6'8" | C Batavia | 2022 State OH , 6’8 C Batavia 2022: Weisbrodt was a small school stud for Batavia, putting up huge numbers as a senior. Weisbrodt stood out to me playing for Shining Star Price in a low usage offensive role where he motor and rebounding skills really shined next to more talented guard play. I think Weisbrodt is a scholarship level prospect who has received offers from Delta State and Thomas Moore, we’ll see where he decides to play his college ball.
Gabe Phillips Gabe Phillips 6'8" | C Beavercreek | 2022 State OH , 6’8 C Beavercreek 2022: Phillips is a big bodied center who had a solid year next to Adam Duvall Adam Duvall 6'6" | PF Beavercreek | 2022 State OH for a post-oriented Beavercreek squad. Phillips used his football body to move defenders off the block and score around the basket. Not a ton of offensive game, but Phillips strength and rebounding on the interior would be valuable for college programs.
Zach Vernon Zach Vernon 6'6" | C North Union | 2022 State OH , 6’6 C North Union 2022: Vernon is a little undersized in the height department but makes up for it with his impressive display of post moves on his big frame. Vernon needs the right fit at the next level, especially for a team that doesn’t like to push the pace too much, but I think he could be a nice post scorer for a team looking for some size to bring off the bench. Vernon went out with a career game in the playoffs against Harvest Prep and showed he could still produce against better athleticism than he saw in conference play.
London Maiden London Maiden 6'8" | C Richmond Heights | 2022 State OH , 6’8 C Richmond Heights 2022: Maiden is fresh off a state title win and is now playing spring grassroots basketball for All Ohio Red. Looking at the box scores, it appears Maiden had a nice showing at the first live period, with efficient scoring around the basket. I’ll be intrigued to see what level Maiden ends up at, especially if he continues to perform for All Ohio Red this spring.
