With the first live recruiting period of the spring, college coaches from all across the country will descend on Indiana’s capital city to watch the many top prospects participating. Many of those prospects will be at the Indianapolis Convention Center downtown for Prep Hoops’ event, The Stage. As we begin to preview the weekend let’s take a look at five prospects that may have flown under-the-radar that could breakout this weekend.
Drew Busick (Traders Point Christian 2024/EG10 2024 Red): After shooting nearly 45% from three-point range during his sophomore season, this coach’s son point guard is ready to showcase his skills on the Prep Hoops Grit Region Circuit. Busick is a good passer along with this shooting prowess which makes him all the more dangerous as a playmaker.
Cole Duncan Cole Duncan 6'9" | C Cowan | 2024 State IN (Cowan H.S. 2024/D1 Indiana 2024-2): Anytime you have a 6’7″-6’8″ rising junior that can block shots and rebound you will at least catch some eyes. Duncan plays at tiny Cowan High School so he will fly a bit under-the-radar, but there are some raw tools there to work with. Continues to develop as time goes on and is poised for a breakout summer with D1 Indiana on the Prep Hoops Circuit.
D’Amare Hood D’Amare Hood 6'4" | SF Delta | 2024 State IN (Delta H.S. 2024/All Area Basketball Program 2024): Hood was an important rotation piece for Delta this season and flashes some really intriguing upside to his game. Great size on the wing at 6’3″ with good driving ability from the wings and a lot of potential in transition. His size and athleticism are what stand out when watching him play. Definitely a name to keep an eye on this spring.
Matthew King Matthew King 6'3" | SG Bosco Institute | 2024 IN (Hammond Central H.S. 2024/EG10 2024): For those who closely follow high school basketball, King isn’t necessarily a new name as he had a very strong sophomore season for Hammond Central. However, coming down from the region, he will become more of a statewide name this spring and summer. King is a super athletic and long 6’2″ guard with excellent driving ability. Very good defender as well.
Kieran Tewari Kieran Tewari 6'2" | SG Yorktown | 2024 State IN (Yorktown H.S. 2024/EG10 2024 Red): Another young player coming off of an effective sophomore season, the 6’2″ guard was the second leading scorer for a team that made it to the regional final. Tewari made 51 3’s in 25 games at a 35% clip. Definitely a scorer to keep an eye on this spring.
