I was in attendance all weekend watching the 15Us at Triton Central, and I was able to see some of the best talent from teams across the entire country. Let’s take a look at the standouts from Iowa and Minnesota that I saw this past weekend.
Trey Borchers Trey Borchers 6'2" | SG Anoka | 2025 State MN – 6’0” SG – Anoka (Minnesota Magic Premier)
Borchers is a strong shooting guard who did a little bit of everything on the offensive end. He got inside and finished through contact with his toughness. He also shot very well from the outside with three triples in the game. He did a little bit of everything including scoring, passing, and defense, which made it hard to not just watch him.
Xavier Daniels Xavier Daniels 6'1" | SG Hill-Murray | 2025 State MN – 6’1” SF – Hill Murray (Minnesota Magic Premier)
Daniels is a big, strong wing who just looks to get to the rim every single time he touches the basketball. He wants to get out and run, and if you are in his way, he will just run you over. He finished well with some nice driving moves, and he showed off his athleticism with a fastbreak dunk attempt that he lost on the way up but would have thrown down.
Adam Dorsey – 5’10” PG – Eagan (Minnesota Magic Premier)
Dorsey is a hard-working point guard who has nice touch on every single one of his passes as well as around the rim. He also can shoot the ball as he knocked down a triple. On the defensive end, he played lockdown defense as well. Good overall weekend from Dorsey.
Norbu Jenpa – 6’1” SF – Prior Lake (Minnesota Magic Premier)
Jenpa is another wing who makes his living in the lane. He always looks to get inside, and his footwork in the post makes him hard to stop. He scored on several post moves, and his touch was very good as well. This kid is still growing, so he has the potential to be a good power forward in the future.
Ben Scranton – 6’0” PG – Pleasant Valley (Quad City Shockers Blue)
Scranton really caught my eye based on his hustle and heart. He was always running, and I think he was on the floor every single time there was a loose ball. He also used his quickness to get inside as well as to create space to knock down a three. This kid has a ton of heart, and if this weekend represents his work ethic, he is going to continue to work hard to improve.
Cailen Shadrick Cailen Shadrick 6'2" | SF Davenport North | 2025 State IA – 6’3” SG – Davenport West (EZ Work Elite)
Shadrick is a guard with a good amount of size, and he scored the ball very well. He had a nice triple at the start of the game, and he took the ball to the rim and finished through contact over the bigger defenders. He also saw the floor pretty well and made some nice passes. He was a much-needed second option for this EZ Work Elite team that kept them in the game late.
Elias Vargas – 5’8” PG – Davenport Central (Quad City Shockers Blue)
Vargas is a nice little point guard whose quickness and ball-handling make him tough to defend. He sees the floor incredibly well and has his eyes up at all times. He also has the confidence that he can make every single possible pass. Vargas did not score it too well, but he did knock down a three so he has that in the bag as well.
Blake Viktor – 6’0” PG – Bettendorf (Quad City Shockers Blue)
Viktor is a pure three and D player who was lights out from the outside. He led the team in scoring with 14 points on 4-4 from three. He is able to knock them down off of the catch and shoot, and he was able to create space away from his defender. Look out for this shooter!
