The SoCal Hoop Review Event had multiple teams from Northern California make the trip down south to play at Momentous Sports Center. Here are the prospects who played well while PH was watching. Prep Hoops NorCal makes every effort to see as many NorCal prospects as we can.
Devin Lewis Devin Lewis 6'0" | PG Inderkum | 2023 State CA-N 6’0 2023 PG of Sacramento Hoyas (Capital Christian HS)
Lewis is a hard playing point guard with good intensity. He has the speed, and handles to go by defenders on his way to the basket for floaters and paint jumpers, he can handle the contact. He’s fast pushing the ball up court, he’ll make long sharp crisps passes up court, and on the perimeter. He has the skills to properly run an offense.
Savion Daniels 6’5 SF/PF 2023 of Sacramento Hoyas (Inderkum HS)
It was our first look at the physically strong Daniels. He has power and strength, and is hard to handle going up anywhere around the basket, whether it’s for rebounds or power finishes. He had good drives along the baseline, and a couple of spin moves to score points in the paint. He’s a hard playing prospect, who’ll go after rebounds. He’s on the Wright’s Watch List.
Jake Rodriguez Jake Rodriguez 5'11" | PG Urban | 2024 State CA-N 5’10 2024 PG of Bay City Warriors 16U Select AC (Urban HS)
Rodriquez has matured as a point guard, he’s settled and plays the position as well as any guard in the 2024 NorCal class. He has the crafty handles to control the pace, he can play fast or slow. He knows when to push in transition. He’s got the quickness to get by defenders, and into the paint which gives him the option of finding open shooters, dumping it off to a big, or using his floater.
Joshua Bonney 6’2 2024 SG of Clutch Elite 16U (Rio Americano
Bonney has pretty much established himself as a legitimate shooter in the 2024 NorCal class. We’ll see if he can continue in that way at the varsity level next season. The facts are in, he can knock down 3’s if you don’t guard him. He’s makes a good effort to add balance to his game with improved handles, and floaters in the paint. His his movements to get open, his use of screens, having his feet set, and a good release up top all but makes him a top shooter you have to account for.
Kenny Harper Kenny Harper 6'4" | SF Valley Christian | 2023 State CA-N 6’4 2023 SG of WCEUA 17U SV (Valley Christian HS, San Jose, CA)
He was one of the better mid-range shooters we observed on Sunday. He hit a couple of 3’s in the corner. He’s an athletic type with good hops. He plays with good balance and control. He can hit the mid-range off the dribble drive moving to his left or right, he has good lift and he often had the angle to use the backboard.
