Continue ReadingRecently several of the 2022 prospects that we have been scouting and writing about for two years announced which program they will play for at the next level. So, we thought we would take a minute to acknowledge the dedication and skills that led to this life changing achievement for these ballers.
Below is a rundown of five 2022 prospects from southeastern Pennsylvania who recently committed to play college ball.
Patrick Gilhool Patrick Gilhool 6'3" | SF Elizabethtown | 2022 State PA – 6’3” / Elizabethtown / LA Elite / Wing: “Patty McBuckets” (15.6 ppg. & 6.7 rpg.) is Committed to York College (DIII in PA) and the Spartans are getting a player who can hit jumpers from anywhere on the court. His ability to use the dribble-drive to get to his mid-range spots is outstanding. Gilhool can also splash home threes as well. He is sneaky athletic. So, his ability to finish a transition break with authority often shocks opponents. This season Gilhool posted several memorable performances — 31 points vs. Solanco as well as 29 points (and 11 rebs) vs. Ephrata.
Jackson Kuranda – 6’3” / Phoenixville / LA Elite / Wing: Kuranda (9 ppg.) recently Committed to Marywood University (DIII in PA) and his nearly automatic perimeter shooting will space the floor nicely for the Pacers. Kuranda’s jumper has deep range, and he is especially effective on wing and trail threes. His long wingspan allows Kuranda to be effective rebounder on the glass at both ends (6 rpg.). After he secures a defensive rebounder, Kuranda is an excellent outlet passer. This past season Kuranda recorded 40 steals. So as a nice bonus, he is a plus defender.
Kevin Nowoswiat – 6’4” / Unionville / East Coast Power-Rapp / Combo Guard: This 2021-22 1st Team All Ches-Mont League selection is Committed to Franklin & Marshall (DIII in PA). Nowoswiat is a prolific scorer (15.6 ppg. & 2.8 apg.) with a deep bag of dribble moves and fakes. He possesses an outstanding step back jump shot that would remind you a little of Dirk Nowitzki. Additionally, Nowoswiat can shoot the three from multiple spots on the floor. He is a solidly built and extremely athletic prospect (also plays lacrosse) who can absorb contact in the paint while scoring the rock. Nowoswiat averaged 5.8 rpg. last season which for a guard is outstanding work on the boards.
Anthony “Reese” Purnell Anthony “Reese” Purnell 6'1" | PG Kiski School | 2022 State PA – 6’1” / Kiski School / Philly Pride National / Point Guard: Purnell is an extremely quick and athletic point guard who is Committed to West Chester University (DII in PA). In 2021-22 Purnell averaged 14 points and 5 rebounds per game. His extra burst of speed, change of direction skills and ability to play above the rim make Purnell exceedingly difficult to guard. Purnell’s three-point shooting continues to improve and is now a legitimate weapon. Of course, as a high-level point man, he is an unselfish player who moves the rock to open teammates.
Mikah Tulloch – 5’10” / Freire Charter / Mt. Pleasant Bulldogs / Point Guard: Tulloch recently Committed to Penn State University — Greater Allegheny (DII in PA). The shifty dribbling skills that enable Tulloch to get to the rim with ease will be a welcome addition to the program. This speedy backcourt prospect also excels in transition as the primary ball handler or as a wing filler. His catch and shoot capabilities from behind the arc must be respected by opposing teams as well. During the 2021-22 season Tulloch posted 5.6 points and 3 assists per game.
