Evan Anderson Evan Anderson 6'3" | SG Black River Falls | 2024 State WI – 2024 – SG – Wisconsin Playmakers UA Rise
Anderson had a lot of good moments in Saturday’s loss to All Iowa Attack. The 6-foot-3 guard was very aggressive and generated a lot of positive offense. Anderson had a lot of success catching on the perimeter and hitting defenders with a little jab step and go. Anderson is a little lanky, but plays physically and likes to put his head down and draw contact. A sneaky athlete, Anderson can play above the rim or also rise and fire over the top. Anderson also did a nice job of meeting defenders at the rim, hanging in the air, and adjusting his finish.
Pierce Arenz Pierce Arenz 5'10" | PG Kiel | 2024 State WI – 2024 – PG – Wisconsin Blizzard
Arenz made a ton of plays for the Blizzard in their win over Fundamental U. A speedy, attacking guard, Arenz’s ability to fly in the open floor was on full display. Arenz just doesn’t let the defense rest. He’s a get-it-and-go floor general that’s going to push the tempo with the pass first and the dribble second. The 5-foot-9 guard is fearless at the rim and can finish acrobatically. Ball doesn’t stick to his hands either. Arenz set up shooters with on-time and on-target passing, creating a nice flow offensively. Arenz has break-you-down ability on the ball and also sees the entire floor. He can thread the needle with the pass and found open teammates throughout the game.
Termarion Brumby Termarion Brumby 6'1" | CG Racine Case | 2024 State WI – 2024 – G – Wisconsin Playground Club
Brumby played the best I’ve seen of him thus far. While PGC came up short against Chapman Basketball Academy, Brumby completely turned the game around. With his team trailing by nine, Brumby started a major run with his defensive pressure and ability to force turnovers in the backcourt. A strong, athletic guard that can move his feet and get up into you, Brumby’s effort and energy felt contagious. Offensively, he’s a downhill, shifty attacker that uses that strength well to brush aside contact or finish against a foul. Fitting in with his new team nicely, Brumby’s stock continues to climb after finishing last summer on a high note.
Ty Fernholz Ty Fernholz 6'2" | SG Stoughton | 2024 State WI – 2024 – SG – Wisconsin Blizzard
Fernholz made a seamless transition to his new team. Scoring a game-high 21 points, Fernholz knocked down five triples during a win over Fundamental U. The Stoughton product is arguably the best in the state at freeing himself without the basketball. Defenders know exactly what he’s doing and yet Fernholz still finds himself open consistently for rhythm triples. Love that Fernholz can also take defenders down on the block/high post and score with his back to the basket. The 6-foot-1 sophomore is able to either turn and face or knock down the fade away.
Solomon Garrison Solomon Garrison 5'10" | PG Homestead | 2023 State WI – 2023 – PG – Chapman Basketball Academy
Love the way Garrison plays and goes about his business. A kid that squeezes every ounce of his talent, Garrison loves the game of basketball and competes with noticeable passion. Starting on the defensive end, he’s picking up 94 feet from the hoop, playing sound defense without fouling, and working his tail off, waiting for the ball handler to make a mistake so he can capitalize with a steal. The 5-foot-10 lead guard can absolutely go on the ball and flies in the open floor. While he’s undersized, Garrison plays angles off the backboard exceptionally well to avoid shot blockers. Garrison scored effectively in the halfcourt as well, especially with a pump fake, one-dribble jumper in the mid-range. A coach’s dream, when Garrison is on the floor, he’s doing all the right things and the ball movement/spacing is just different with him at the controls.
Tamarrein Henderson Tamarrein Henderson 6'3" | CG West Salem | 2024 State WI – 2024 – G – Wisconsin Playmakers UA Rise
Look for Henderson to make a lot of noise this spring. An athletic, two-way guard that can also handle the point, Henderson’s flashes are becoming more consistent. He’s starting to shoot it really well, which was the knock him last year. The 6-foot-3 guard connected on a lot of tough stuff off the dribble during Saturday’s loss to All Iowa Attack. Henderson can play in isolation and uptempo settings. A budding shot creator, Henderson’s pull-up and off-balance jumper game looked really smooth throughout the day.
Joey LaChapell Joey LaChapell 5'10" | PG Appleton East | 2024 State WI – 2024 – PG – Wisconsin Crusaders
The baby-faced assassin strikes again. LaChapell looked really good in a one-possession loss to Team 1848. While LaChapell is just 5-foot-11, he’s quicker and more athletic on the ball than you might think. LaChapell plays very low to the ground and has explosive handles/change of direction which allowed him to break down some pretty good team defense at times. LaChapell is a terrific playmaking guard as well. Once he gets past his defender, LaChapell feels the help-side defense and set up his teammates with a ton of rhythm shots. LaChapell is also a sniper and one of the top shooters in his class.
Nolan Minesalle – 2024 – SF – Chapman Basketball Academy
This is going to be one of the biggest stock boosters of the weekend. Minesalle dropped 27 points and nine rebounds in a win over Wisconsin Playground Club Saturday night. Not only did Minesalle set the tone early with a couple of buckets, including a baseline, two-hand slam, but he also led CBA back from a big second half deficit. Minesalle was terrific on the offensive glass, which jumpstarted the comeback. A long, lanky wing who can slash and shoot the ball a bit, Minesalle is a terrific athlete with effortless above the rim ability.
Mason Prey Mason Prey 6'4" | CG Newman Catholic | 2023 State WI – 2023 – G – Wisconsin Playmakers Wausau
Prey had a game-high 22 points in a win Saturday afternoon. What keeps Prey highly ranked in this 2023 class is his basketball IQ and ability to affect his team in a positive manner. Prey is not a prospect that’s going to make a lot of highlights. What he is going to do is make the right basketball play and elevate those around him. A skilled combo guard with floor vision and perimeter shooting, Prey can take over games as a scorer or a facilitator. Nothing flashy about the way he goes about his business, but Prey consistently produces at a high level.
Theo Schofield Theo Schofield 6'5" | PF Waterloo | 2024 State WI – 2024 – F – Wisconsin Academy
Schofield had a big second half to help Academy get past Closed Gyms. The Sun Prairie standout scored 16 of his game-high 18 points after halftime. A strong, physical, athletic, and versatile prospect, Schofield is one of the best kept secrets in the state right now. Schofield is excellent in the high post or taking defenders off the dribble from the top of the key. The 6-foot-5 lefty creates a ton of matchup problems and commands extra attention. He’s an adequate passer out of the post against the double team and had dominant stretches on the offensive glass. While he played here and there for Sun Prairie as a sophomore, Schofield remains a top 50 prospect in the state and someone who could have a breakout 2022-23 campaign.
Qi’andre Washington Qi’andre Washington 6'1" | PG Kingdom Prep | 2023 State WI – 2023 – PG – Chapman Basketball Academy
Washington had some beastly moments on Saturday. A strong guard, Washington is a bulldog that just doesn’t feel contact. Washington scored effective in transition and made some difficult finishes look easy. Also a plus defender, Washington moves his feet, shuts off straight-line drives to the rim, and can play a physical style that takes the opposition out of its rhythm. Washington competed at a high level throughout the game, busted his butt on both ends of the floor, and gave his team life in different areas.
Prentice Young Prentice Young 6'4" | CG Wisconsin Lutheran | 2023 State #273 Nation WI – 2023 – G – Wisconsin Playground Club
Continuing to work his way back from an injury suffered last spring, Young led PGC to a blowout win over 24 Up Saturday night. Young turned defense into offense, recording six steals and 13 points. Young picked his man’s pocket on numerous occasions which led to transition run outs. The 6-foot-3 junior also shot the ball really well in the mid-range, able to catch in the high post, face up, and score over the top. A multi-dimensional guard, Young is comfortable playing all three spots on the perimeter, including point.
