The Hustle Region Circuit consists of AAU Programs from California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Colorado, and New Mexico. The circuit features 10 stops including the Hustle Region Final in Irvine July 15th – 17th. Stop 3 is a big one, as the circuit pulls up in Kansas City for the NCAA Certified Prephoops Live Event. The event featured several players who impacted the game with their energy and effort. In this article, we take a look at some of the top high motor guys from the event.
Micah Pierce Micah Pierce 6'7" | PF Phh Prep | 2022 State AZ 6’6 PF AZ Select 2022 – A strong player with good size, Pierce hustled on the backboards getting both offensive and defensive rebounds. He’s a good interior defender whose effort showed in his willingness to battle against opponents looking for post up opportunities.
Dekaveon Taylor 6’2 SF OWE 2023 – Taylor was one of the best overs|unders player I saw. An undersized overachiever, the forward was super active around the rim, keeping balls alive and snagging offensive rebounds. His effort and energy made him one of the top undersized rebounders I saw in the event.
Seydou Tamboura Seydou Tamboura 6'7" | PF St. Mary's | 2023 State AZ 6’8 PF AZ Select 2023 – When Tamboura plays hard he’s a problem simply because of his frame. A physical specimen, Tamboura played with a terrific motor on the defensive side of the ball bumping and grinding with bigs on the interior and wings in perimeter switch situations.
Darik Dissette Darik Dissette 6'4" | SG Minot | 2023 State #300 Nation ND 6’4 SF North Dakota Phenoms 2023 – Dissette caught my eye with his quick second jump ability. When combined with his activity this skill made him a terror around the basket. Dissette kept a ton of balls alive, with tips, using his second jump to secure the rebound.
Nick Sanchez Nick Sanchez 5'11" | PG Artesia | 2023 State NM 5’11 PG D1 New Mexico 2023 (featured image) – Sanchez may be the first player that ever made my high motor team based on his offensive play. The guard routinely threw his body into defenders while simultaneously throwing the ball at the hoop. He made enough of these wild shots to catch my eye and land him on the list. Sanchez didn’t limit his wildness to just the offensive side, as he also played with his energy on defense, harassing opposing ballhandlers and diving on the floor for loose balls.
Amari Nealy 6’4 PF Ball4lyfe 2024 – It’s rare that a high motor guy is also a quiet scorer but that was the case with Nealy. He stood out to me because of his willingness to defend and rebound for his team. He did both at a high level and with great energy, however to my surprise at the end of the game he was the leading scorer for his team, having used his motor to tally 18 tough points.
Garrison Phelps Garrison Phelps 6'6" | SG Saint Marys Catholic | 2022 State AZ 6’6 PF AZ Select 2022 – Phelps is a classic overs under guy. He’s explosive off two feet, and uses it to keep balls alive on the glass. He’s a battler down low, who can serve as a small 4/5 at the next level. Offensively he utilizes a face-up game, preferring to slash to the rim to finish.
