Expect coverage on the site all weekend long as we will be dishing out new content each day. For starters, here is a look at five prospects that made a name for themselves on the opening night.
2023 Justin Bass Justin Bass 5'11" | PG Kecoughtan | 2023 State VA | Team Push
After a solid junior season at Kecoughtan, Bass was really good Friday night for Team Push in a win against Middlesex Magic. Bass finished with double digit scoring numbers by scoring the ball in a variety of ways. He was crafty in traffic and showed off a smooth jumper. I would expect more division three schools from the area to get involved soon with the 5’11 point guard.
2024 Barrett Hardwood | Team Loaded 757
Hardwood sits at the top of the list for top shooters I saw on Friday. He connected on five triples for Team Loaded 757b helping them secure a win for Team Loaded 757. You could have had some of the top defenders in the event on him last night but Hardwood was not going to miss a lot of shots last night. Hardwood is a name to watch in the Hampton Roads area.
2022 Levi Lawal | District Basketball Club
Lawal definitely impressed for DBC in helping them secure a big win Friday night. Lawal plays with good energy and is constantly active. Lawal has been making the most of his time this April and has been playing an important piece for DBC.
2024 Emmanuel Okitondo Emmanuel Okitondo 6'8" | PF Combine Academy | 2024 State NC | Team Durant
Okitondo comes in at number 14 in the latest Prep Hoops MD/DC 2024 rankings update and showed that he possibly could be in the need of a rankings bump the next go around. Time will tell if that statement will come to fruition but last night he was really good. He was playing great defense by altering shots, defending without fouling, finishing above the rim on offense and hit a few mid range jumpers. I will have a recruiting report on Okitondo in the coming days.
2023 Taqbir Raji | District Basketball Club
Raji did what he does best last night in a win for District Basketball Club showing toughness and playing hard from the start to the final whistle of the game. At 6’8, he is a strong rebounder and was a reliable post defender for DBC. Given his size at 6’8, there are many positives to like about his game on both ends of the floor.
