Luckily, I got to be stationed at Drive 5 around all of the action so coverage will be centered around those that played there during the #PrepHoopsLive that I was able to see.
5 Shooters from Drive 5
Reese Peterson, 6′ PG, Kansas Team 2024: Very high IQ player who maneuvers with the ball and without the ball with a purpose which gets him great shots. Peterson all has a great understanding of when he is on balance and in rhythm which leads him to take great shots, and made over 50% of his three point opportunities on the weekend at Drive 5 in the Prep Hoops Live. Has great pop in his pull up, sprints off screens ready to catch and fire, and can be an off ball guard ready to catch and shoot. Peterson’s shooting ability and his point guard skill set make him a great prospect in 2024.
Jaret Sanchez, 6’3 W/F, SSA Elite 2025 Black (Pictured): Has great size and versatility to play multiple positions on the floor and can be a massive matchup nightmare for opponents. Had a 6 made 3 game this weekend and a 4 made three game as well. Can get hot and microwave quickly, can face up opponents and get on balance and rise up over defenders, and was really good at running the wings or trailing plays into quality 3 point looks. Against smaller matchups he was able rise up and knock down shots and against bigger forwards his shooting ability pulled defenders away from the rim. Really good in the mid post and mid baseline areas shooting the ball as well.
Domanic Martinez, 6’1 Guard, D1 New Mexico 2025: The epitome of a big time shot maker from the guard spot. His ability to knock down shots from multiple levels and extended 3 point distance makes him a really tough guard to defend. Was dominant in his shooting ability throughout the weekend pouring in the scoring numbers and lighting up the nets at Drive 5. Does a great job in transition of in the half court of attacking defenders to get them on their heels then explodes smoothly into a pull up. In the half court is dangerous off ball screens rising up, can get rid of the ball and move without it to get opportunities as well.
Keegan VanKauwenberg, 6’3 Wing, Wisconsin Crusaders 2025: Really long wing player who is a great weapon on the perimeter with his ability to catch and get shots off quick, has long arms which makes him tough to contest, and plays within his teams principals and systems well so gets great opportunities. He is a microwave shooting the rock as well, and had it going early and often when I was able to check him out this weekend. A great overall shooter but his knock ability compliments everything else that comes with his ability.
Colin Kirk, 6’6 F, Minnesota Fury Wilde 2025: Here is my true stretch forward for this list. Extremely long of a prospect and can step out after screens off the ball, pop on ball screens or straight step out and fire. Has a good looking shooting stroke as well and shoots it confidently especially from the top of the key and trail spots. Kirk hit some and had others right on target that really showed his touch from the perimeter. It looked as though he has some developing interior presence as well, but his unique length in the 2025 class and play this weekend makes him an interesting stretch forward, mismatch shooting wing right now.
