The goal of the league is to provide an opportunity for Post Grad players, by providing a credible, compliant governing body on the West Coast. This year the League featured 3 session stops, in three different cities. Phoenix, (AZ) January 15th – 17th, Chino (CA) February 4-6, and San Diego March 11th-13th. The league features 5 post-grad programs.
Middlebrooks Academy, features strong support services, innovation in education, and a world-class training model for student-athletes. The school strives to produce student-athletes who produce at the highest level in the venues of sport as well as those who are conscientious leaders and agents of change. During its time, Middlebrooks Academy has produced several student-athletes that have gone on to fit that mold, including Zach Rollins (Montana St Billings), Alex Dargenton (Utah St), and Tyler Bey Tyler Bey 6'6" | SF Fairfax | 2022 State CA-S (Colorado, Dallas Mavericks). This year’s squad contains several prospects looking to continue the tradition. Here is a look at Middlebrooks Academy.
Laolu Kalejaiye 6’0 SG 2022 – No one will ever criticize Kalejaiye for being shy. The wing made sure to get them up, and only needs to see one go in to get hot. He knocked down threes throughout the seasons, proving that he can change scoreboards with his catch and shoot ability.
TJ Muhammad 5’10 PG 2022 – Muhammad is a tough-as-nails PG. The lefty will sit in a stance and defend and isn’t afraid to stick his nose in for rebounds. He’s the type of PG you need if you’re looking to build a winning program. He’s a prospect of some level, but if he can continue to improve his outside shooting, then he could be a nice sleeper at the right level.
Immanuel Lewis SG 2022 – Lewis is a scrappy player and willing defender. He proved to be good in help side defensive situations, getting his hands on several loose balls. He scored off transition when he was able to get out ahead of the pack, catch and finish.
Shant Karkotsyan SG 2022 (featured image) – Perhaps the most memorable moment of the season was Karkotsyan’s game-winning corner 3 against future college prep. The three was indicative of the sniper’s shot-making ability. He was deadly accurate from behind the three-point line and proved he can make shots both in catch and shoot and off 1 or 2 bounces.
Sleeper:
Shawn Woodson 6’3 SG 2022 – At first glance, Woodson looks like he should be out on the football field. While he may be effective playing on the gridiron, he’s pretty good on the hardwood. The lefty combines power and finesse brilliantly. One moment he’s barreling over a defender, the next he’s Eurostepping in transition. The highly skilled forward can also knock down shots from behind the three-point line, when defenders back off. With his size, and skill he could do damage at several small schools.
Top Prospect:
Chris Dockery 6’6 SF 2022 – Dockery is constant motion on the court. Despite already signing with D1 Weber St, the rangy wing plays with reckless abandon. The high motor forward uses his R&J ability to impact games with spectacular finishes in transition. He has a sneaky good offensive game, which includes a lot of playmaking ability. Dockery is a willing passer with good vision. On the game-winning 3 by Karkotsyan, Dockery was the passer.
