Continue ReadingWith two courts swarming with 16U talent, we had plenty of players to pick from. The two all-tournament teams below hold top standouts from their respective positions. We combed through hundreds to bring you 10 of the best 16U prospects.
1st Team
G: Jaheem Smith Team Stride Elite
Smith is a quick guard that can shift his way to the basket. He’s only a 2024 prospect but has the build needed to score in the paint as a smaller guard. Smith averaged 20+ per game over the weekend.
G: Tyrese Mayo Fill The Lane
Mayo paced all 16U scorers with 30 a game. I know him as a quick pesky defender with Winter Haven high school but with Filling the Lane he’s a shifty scorer that can get where he wants. He hit shots in the midrange and made layups through contact.
W: Ryan Blount Ryan Blount 6'6" | CG Rockledge | 2024 State FL Athletes Of Influence
Blount has few rivals for the title of best shooter in the Passion Region’s 16U division. He’s a high volume three point shooter with a quick release. A 6’4 frame that will easily fill out helps him take contact on the way to the basket. The Athletes of Influence standout has a game college coaches will love.
F: Eli Lusbey Spartans Elite
Lusbey put up near double-double performances all weekend. He’s a physical forward that bangs in the post. His 6’6 will allow him to compete with the size he’ll see all summer.
F: Adonai Mussie No Excuses Elite
Mussie gains your attention with his long 6’9 frame. Once the ball tips, it’s his forceful rebounding and shot blocking that keeps it. At his size, he can step on the perimeter to knock down shots. He’s part of a talented No Excuses Elite team and has the potential to be the most coveted prospect of the bunch.
2nd Team
G: Trey Murray Trey Murray 6'2" | PG Wesley Chapel | 2024 State FL Heart and Hustle Elite
Murray is an athletic playmaker that can shoot the ball beyond the arc. He can mix it up with the ball in his hands to get to the rim of pull up from distance. Murray uses his athleticism to make plays on both ends of the floor.
G: Reggie Reinhardt Stampede
Reinhardt makes plays all over the court. As a 6’1 guard, he scored in double digits every game, rebounds well fit a guard, and gets others involved.
W: Emmanuel Befekadu No Excuses Elite
Befekadu is a high level shooter. Whether off the catch or dribble, the sophomore from Georgia can dial it up. Watching him shoot in warm up is a thing of beauty as he rattles home jumper after jumper. In the game, it’s a bit of the same as his shot preparation and form are impeccable.
F: Kai McIntyre No Excuses Elite
McIntyre is an athletic 6’4 wing prospect. His combination of upside and production earned him a spot on this list. He finishes at and above the rim with ease thanks to length and bounce. Transition scores came easily as he invaded the passing lanes of his opponents.
F: Ralph Blanc Ralph Blanc 6'5" | SF Mater Lakes | 2024 FL 305 Elite
Blanc’s combination of size, length, and athleticism led to production. At 6’6 he has no problem rebounding his area and getting above the rim. He stands out as a run and jump big man prospect. As Blanc improves his motor, all his physical tools will really pop.
