The rest of the week will be focused on bringing content about this class and introducing college coaches and fans around the state to the top talent in this class. This begins our series, starting with the top point guards.
Darryn Peterson Darryn Peterson 6'5" | CG Huntington Prep | 2025 State #4 Nation WV , 6’5 CG CVCA 2025 Nj Scholars 15 U: Peterson is a nationally ranked prospect who is the most skilled freshman guard I’ve ever had the chance to evaluate in my short time scouting. Peterson has a ridiculously deep bag of moves and makes the game look way too easy. Peterson dominated during the high school season, scoring over 25 PPG for CVCA and has continued to tear it up on the EYBL circuit. It’s still undetermined if Peterson will be playing his high school ball in Ohio as a Sophomore, but while he’s in the state you have to simply marvel whenever he’s on the court.
Jerry Easter II Jerry Easter II 6'5" | PG La Lumiere | 2025 #55 Nation IN , 6’5 CG Emmanuel Christian 2025 Super Friendz 15 U: Easter is also nationally ranked for his scoring talent, as the freshman guard was named alongside Peterson to the Max Preps Freshman All American First Team. Easter continued to show his impressive scoring talent on the 3SSB circuit with huge numbers during the first live period. Easter has an incredible knack for scoring the basketball and has good touch on floaters and mid-range shots. Easter has already gotten high major offers and will likely add many more by the time he’s an upperclassman.
Arness Lawson Arness Lawson 6'1" | PG Pickerington North | 2025 State #306 Nation OH , 6’1 PG Pickerington North 2025 All Ohio Red 15 U: Lawson is one of the top defensive prospects in the state, as I love his defensive instincts and quick hands. Lawson has quick feet and good burst that’s used on both ends to make impact plays. As a freshman, Lawson played a secondary role on offense next to three other senior guards, but the keys to the offense should be his next season.
De’Erick Barber De’Erick Barber 5'11" | PG Richmond Heights | 2025 State #268 Nation OH , 5’11 PG Richmond Heights 2025 Ohio Rebels 16 U: Barber is an old school point guard who brings toughness and will remind Clevelanders a lot of Garvin Clarke, a former Euclid stud who now plays at Akron. Barber is incredibly quick with the ball in his hands and does a great job kicking the ball to shooters in the corners. Barber is another elite defensive prospect as well, with his quick feet and good defensive instincts. Barber has done a lot of winning, already a state champion and leading the Ohio Rebels to a lot of success early in the spring playing up a year.
Bj Hatcher Bj Hatcher 6'1" | PG Northmont | 2025 State OH , 5’11 PG Dayton Dunbar 2025 All Ohio Red 15 U: Hatcher was a star at Flyin’ To The Hoop and stood out often as a freshman for Dayton Dunbar. Hatcher has a polished game for a freshman guard with plenty of scoring moves to beat defenders and solid passing ability. Hatcher has already shown the ability to produce against high level talent and should develop into a Division I prospect.
