Continue ReadingThe second live recruiting period of the spring is much more spread out than the first one was two weeks ago. Instead of four tournaments being held in Indianapolis, along with EYBL down in Orlando and some good teams up in Grand Rapids, the events are all across the country this weekend. Here at Prep Hoops Indiana we will be keeping tabs on teams in Kansas City, Missouri (Prep Hoops, UAA/UA Rise), Spartanburg, South Carolina (3SSB/Adidas Gold), Indianapolis, Indiana (EYBL, Hardwood Invitational, Grassroots XL), and Louisville, Kentucky (NY2LA).
In this article we are going to focus on two of the shoe circuits, the 3SSB/Adidas Gold taking place in South Carolina and the UAA/UA Rise out in Kansas City. Here are six potential stock-risers from the two events that you may be hearing more about after the weekend.
Luke Almodovar Luke Almodovar 6'2" | SG Noblesville | 2023 State IN (Noblesville H.S. 2023/Team Indiana 2023): This smooth left-handed guard led Indiana Elite Team Indiana in scoring a couple of times during the last live period event in Indianapolis. He will look to continue his strong play out in South Carolina this weekend on the Adidas Gold Circuit. Almodovar is a great scorer who gets good elevation on his jump shot.
Anthony Fields Anthony Fields 6'2" | SG Cathedral | 2024 State IN (Cathedral H.S. 2024/Team Indiana 2024): Fields is super athletic guard that has the skills to play either spot in the backcourt. Extremely quick first step with a highly productive intermediate game with floaters and different finishes. Brings defensively versatility to the table as well. Playing on the Adidas Gold Circuit in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Josiah Gustin Josiah Gustin 6'7" | PF Pendleton Heights | 2024 State IN (Pendleton Heights H.S. 2024/Grand Park Premier 2024): A 6’8″ forward, Gustin really impressed me in Indianapolis two weekends ago at the first session of UAA. He has noticeably gotten stronger and more comfortable around the basket. To go with his size and length he has the skill to face-up from the perimeter to either shoot or drive. Really intriguing prospect you can catch in Kansas City this weekend.
Kamari Jones Kamari Jones 6'4" | SG Lawrence Centra (IN) / Hilcrest Prep (AZ) | 2023 IN (Lawrence Central H.S. 2023/D1 Indiana 2023): If I speak one thing into existence this summer it’ll be for this D1 Indiana 2023 prospect to get some scholarship offers. It’ll probably start at the NAIA level, but DII’s and low-major D1’s should be watching this guy intently. As a 6’4″ wing, Jones can REALLY shoot the basketball from beyond the arc and has the athleticism to play above the rim when attacking closeouts too. Just a couple of games in a live period away from blowing up.
Nick Richart Nick Richart 6'9" | PF Zionsville | 2023 State IN (Zionsville H.S. 2023/Indiana Elite 2023): Low-major and mid-major coaches should be keeping a close eye on the 6’9″ Richart. The left-hander has excellent footwork inside, great hands, and can score it with his back to the basket. Very good rebounder with the size and strength to bang around and play through first contact. Thought he played very well at 3SSB in Indianapolis.
Caleb Washington Caleb Washington 6'5" | PF Floyd Central | 2023 State IN (Floyd Central H.S. 2023/Grand Park Premier 2023): Washington looked noticeably bigger just from the early high school season to two weekends ago in Indianapolis. He is now a legitimate 6’5″ pushing 6’6″ and has added to his already strong frame. Skilled forward that handles the ball well and causes matchup problems. Could see NAIA offers coming soon.
