The Hustle Region Circuit consists of AAU Programs from California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Colorado, and New Mexico. The circuit features 10 stops including the Hustle Region Final in Irvine July 15th – 17th. Stop number one got underway this past weekend in Seal Beach California, with the Hustle Season Kickoff. The event which took place on Saturday, April 2nd through Sunday, April 3rd featured 46 teams ranging from 15U to 17U. The event also featured several players who could really clean the glass. In this article, we take a look at the top glass cleaners from the event.
Eutrevian Sanders Eutrevian Sanders 6'4" | SF Tennessee Prep Academy | 2024 TN 6’3 SF Rebels New Mexico 2024 (featured image) – Sanders has a good frame, complete with long arms, however, a lot of his rebounding came from sheer determination. He was one of the most physical players I saw during the weekend. The forward would bump and bang down low for position, grabbing several in traffic rebounds in the process. He showed a good 1st jump and managed to win more than his share of 50/50 rebound opportunities.
Ray Wiggins 6’4 PF No Fear 2024 – Got a short look at Wiggins on Saturday, and his board ability stood out. He showed not only the ability to consistently get the ball off the glass but to also start the break after. Wiggins was one of the top grab-and-go guys I saw on the weekend.
Bryce Bedgood 6’7 PF BTI 2024 – Bedgood’s size obviously makes him a candidate for top rebounder, however, he earned it. He’s a volume rebounder who plucked his share off the glass flatfooted, however, he also showed some range, grabbing a few out of area boards as well as wrestling away several in traffic. With his size and signature skill, Bedgood also doubled as one of the more intriguing sleepers of the event.
Jake Bloom 6’3 PF D1 Southern California 2023 – Bloom did not mind mixing it up. The big-bodied banger, showed no fear throwing his body around in the interior, grabbing a lot of his boards off sheer effort alone. He displayed strong hands allowing him to maintain possession despite, opposing players pawing at the ball.
Zyere Johnson – Curry 6’5 PF Rancho Elite 2024 – I didn’t watch a ton of 16U, however, I was on my way to another court when ZJC, made me stop. First, there was his frame, which consist of size with long arms, and then there was his skill. Curry has a quick second jump which allowed him to play volleyball above the rim. He was one of the top offensive rebounders I saw, using that 2nd jump and long arms to snag and putback missed shots.
Isaiah Waters 6’4 No Fear Elite 2024 – One of the most entertaining Matchups, I watched was the interior battle between Waters and Jake Bloom of D1 So Cal. The two bangers, lived up two their titles, with Waters showing that he could grab boards at a high level. It was all effort, and positioning, as he would battle, taking home more than his share of 50/50 rebound opportunities.
