Jayce Swanson | Seattle Rotary EYBL 2025
Jayce is a 5’9 guard that is an overall outstanding guard for 15’s. He is a fantastic ball handler, that will break down his defender and get into the lane and cause issues for the defense. He is a very willing, unselfish playmaker, that can also score through contact. Jayce is a tough guard not only because of his playmaking and ball-handling, but he can really shoot it. He can shoot it off the bounce with no effort and isn’t fazed by a late closeout by the defender. He excels in the catch-and-shoot too. As he is a smaller guard, he tends to get picked on by opposing coaches trying to post him up. He is a dog now, so he isn’t just going to back down. He uses his quickness and athleticism to make up for his size. Big summer ahead for Jayce, excited to see his growth.
Avi West | Built4Ball 2025
At 5’10 this kid will surprise you right away with his stellar athleticism. When he is attacking the rim you wouldn’t think that he would try and dunk on the defense, but that is exactly what this kid will do. Add in his speed and agility, he is just a pure athlete at his size. Avi is never easy to guard as he is a good ball-handler and he has a high motor that just keeps going. He is a knockdown shoot in a catch-and-shoot situation. On defense, Avi is a ball hawk. He is very quick at jumping passes in the passing lane and has the ability to guard you 84 feet. Once Avi becomes a more consistent shooter off the bounce, he is going to take his game to a whole other level. Look out for this kid!
Kainalu Vargas | Spokane Flight
Nalu Vargas at first sight seems like just a solid shooter. Watch this kid a little bit longer and you’ll see he is a complete player. Don’t get me wrong, Nalu is a knockdown shooter in a catch-and-shoot situation, but standing at 6’3, I have seen this kid shoot off the dribble just as well. Nalu moves without the ball setting screens and finding open space better than most 15u or even 16u kids I’ve seen all year. Nalu has solid enough ball-handling to break down his defender enough to find a good jumper from 12-20 feet or draw an extra defender for an extra pass for an open shot. Excited to see his growth throughout the Summer and into the next High School season.
Kai Wheeler | Built4Ball 2025
Kids like Kai are so exciting to watch. Kai is a kid that has a high motor that will do whatever it takes to win the game. Very coachable, a great teammate, and always has a positive attitude. Kai gives 100% every second he’s on the court. He is a great on-ball defender who you can trust to guard a full 84 feet by using his speed and athleticism to stay in front of his opposition. Kai is good in a catch-and-shoot situation, but is very deceiving in a pick and roll situation, often able to find contact and draw his defender into committing a foul. Great kid, even a better teammate, and the most coachable kid you can find anywhere. Excited to see this kid grow his mental processes and his already solid physical attributes.
Carter Rupp | Built4Ball 2025
When I see Carter play, I see a kid who has the most heart any athlete needs to be successful. Has the drive and effort to do anything on a basketball regardless of height and weight. Carter isn’t scared of anything you have to offer him to deter him from being successful. He is a leader on the court at only 14 years old playing a year ahead of him. He is ready for any stage you choose for him. Standing at 5’9 Carter plays like he is 6’1 by never running away from the action. This kid will get in there with the trees and prove his worth. This kid is a KNOCKDOWN shooter from 28 feet in. No, that isn’t an exaggeration… He operates very efficiently and unselfishly in pick and roll options, willing to make any play that makes perfect sense and what’s best for his team. He leads with emotion and grit and often wears it on his sleeve, but every coach wants a kid like Carter, whether they want to admit it or not. This hooper has 3 more years to prove his worth and if you are only starting to watching him now, you’re too late.
