The Prep Hoops Circuit got started over the weekend all across the country. In the Oklahoma City area, the Grind Region Kick Off took place and we had some great basketball across the OKC metro. I was set up in Edmond at Solid Rock for the 17U action from start to finish and we saw some great individual performances throughout. Earlier this week, we released the 17U All Tourney 1st Team & 2nd Team, you can check that out below. In this post, we take a look at five prospects who absolutely filled it up from beyond the arc. Check out Prep Hoops for more coverage from the Grind Region Kick Off!

Amari Sweet – 2023 Guard – Red Oak
(Played With Dallas Showtyme Black Elite)
Dallas Showtyme Black Elite would go 3-1 on the weekend and was one of the better teams that we saw at the Kick Off event. 2023 guard Amari Sweet lived up to his name as his shot was sweet throughout the weekend. It seemed like any time Sweet had the ball in his hand, he was a threat to bury a shot. From beyond the arc, Sweet would knock down 10 three-pointers on the weekend. His best game came in their second game of the weekend when he dropped 20 points and had a trio of three-pointers. Three was the magic number for Sweet as he finished with a trio of three-pointers in three of their games this weekend in Edmond.

– 2023 Guard – Regis Jesuit
(Played With P.L.U.T.O. Prospects)
You can make the argument that the Colorado squad P.L.U.T.O. Prospects had the best weekend and were one of the most dominant teams in the 17U division. They had scorers every where and one of their top shooters was 2023 guard Archer VanSickle Archer VanSickle 6'4" | CG Valor Christian | 2023 State CO out of Regis Jesuit. While most eyes were on Top 100 prospect Kadyn Betts Kadyn Betts 6'7" | PF Huntington Prep | 2023 #90 Nation CO , VanSickle was busy absolutely filling it up from downtown. He ended up knocking down 14 3-pointers throughout the weekend. This was a team that was dominant from start to finish and very fun to watch. On a team full of scorers, VanSickle is one of them was lights out. And by the way, we made it through this whole breakdown without making a pun about Archer’s name and his shooting ability.
Carson Jones – 2024 Guard – Oklahoma Christian School
(Played With H&H Elite)
The only 2024 prospect to make this list is H&H Elite guard Carson Jones out of Oklahoma Christian School in Edmond. Jones was one of H&H Elite’s leading scorers over the weekend and he lived up to what this post is about. Shooters. Jones had a smooth jumper working for him throughout the weekend and that’s a big reason why he finished with ten 3-pointers made in Edmond. Jones is a player to keep an eye on this offseason and we certainly will in future Circuit events. When he starts heating up from beyond the arc, he’s a player that is tough to stop. And he has excellent guards around him that can get him the ball no matter where he is on the floor.
Nathan Vachon – 2023 Forward – Siloam Springs
(Played With KSR Elite)
We wrote about 2023 forward Nathan Vachon out of Siloam Springs, Arkansas in our 1st Team All Tourney post. As we mentioned then, we haven’t gone through every single score sheet but it would take a lot for someone to have a better scoring weekend than Vachon. He averaged nearly 25 points per game and was lights out from beyond the arc. In addition to our comment about points, we didn’t find anyone that had better luck from the perimeter. Vachon would bury 20 3-pointers over the course of four games and that was a big reason for his high point totals. He made shooting look easy and is certainly off to a great start this offseason.

– 2023 Guard – Jenks
(Played With Oklahoma Swift)
Oklahoma Swift has a team that we really like because they have three or four different players that could go off in any given game. They had a few players scoring in the 20’s and one who dropped 30. However, it looked like one of the more consistent shooters from start to finish was Zander Hart Zander Hart 6'4" | SG Jenks | 2023 OK , a 2023 guard out of Jenks. Hart would finish the showcase event with 14 3-pointers and did just about all his scoring from beyond the arc. He played his role this weekend, which is a shooter from the perimeter. They have several other guards who can handle the ball and drive, leaving Hart outside and available to knock down shot after shot.
