The age group of 15u is so often our first opportunity to see freshmen play extended minutes. Rarely do high school freshmen earn meaningful minutes at the high school varsity level, so April-July following that freshman season is the introduction.
(Stars Nashville Vanya 15u)
Decent lateral mobility. He welcomes the challenge of defending the perimeter. Loves to shoot the three-pointer. High-arc. Capable of helping as a catch-and-shoot guy already. A little grit to him. Prideful. After he was forced out-of-bounds by a firm chest nudge, the lead guard returned to score five straight points, and recapture command of the game. He really improved his confidence within the game and hit tougher and tough three-pointers as the game moved along. A smile found his face after the third tough shot made in a row.
Caleb Coates (Stars Nashville-Vanya 15u)
Smooth shooting motion. Looks ready to grow a few more inches. He defended the post when facing GRIII-White.
Trenton Rodefeld (Stars Nashville-Vanya 15u)
Rodefeld is an animal in a 125-pound body. Ferocious, unrelenting. He will aggressively throw himself into any thicket, perfectly comfortable with the brambles and arms whacking and sticking him. Facing GRIII-White, blocked a big from the back with a ruthless swat down.
Wilson Jackson (Stars Nashville-Vanya 15u)
Put some work in the weight room already. Strong shoulders. Will he be a forward or guard down the line? This was not an opportunity to determine that. Vocal defender. Willing passer. Handle is spotty at this point in his development.
(Clarksville Crossovers / Kenwood)
Wild burst of speed. Can make some questionable decisions. Plays fast and, at times, reckless. Insanely quick hands and feet. Quick guards underestimate him. Often Dowell leads the team in steals and points. His shooting touch is suspect in this small sample size. Wildly quick. He seems to get his hands in everything, whether it be a deflection or a wrap up forcing the jump ball.
