Jake Fiegen Jake Fiegen 6'3" | SG New Trier | 2023 State IL (Full Package) New Trier
Maybe the best shooter in the state. Jake has unlimited range on his shot. What I like most about Fiegen is that he can make shots on the move and in catch and shoot situations. Most players don’t develop that skill until college. Jake can become a better ball handler but is still willing to drive to the rim when teams face guard him. I can see many Ivy and Patriot schools involved with his recruitment.
Darrion Baker Darrion Baker 6'8" | PF St Rita | 2023 State #227 Nation IL (Team Rose) Hillcrest
This 6’8 big man stock has risen over the past two weekends. Baker was already a really good rebounder and rim protector. He has now added more moves with his back to the basket and a much improved face up game. With tools to break guys off the dribble now he has moved into a low to mid plus prospect.
Jalen Griffith Jalen Griffith 5'9" | PG Simeon | 2023 State IL (Team Rose) Simeon
Griffith is a floor general who has some CP3 in him. Jalen has the ball on the string and isn’t afraid to go into the paint where the big men rest. The son of a coach Jalen knows when and where to attack and how to make the guys around him better. Size shouldn’t be an issue with Griffith as he guards the ball well and really competes hard on both ends. Low D1 and high D2 prospect.
Darrin Ames Darrin Ames 6'1" | PG Kenwood | 2023 State #99 Nation IL (Mac Irvin Fire) Kenwood
Ames is a dynamic scoring threat whenever he touches the floor. The Kenwood guard can impact the game on both sides but is known for making big shots in big games. Darrin is a three level scoring combo guard that doesn’t shy away from the big moment and when coaches look for a guard who can get you a bucket he’s the guard you look for. Mid-plus to high-majors schools have been all over him.
Mark Nikolich-Wilson Mark Nikolich-Wilson 6'7" | C Rolling Meadows | 2023 State IL (Full Package) Rolling Meadows
Mark is very skilled big man who can be used in multiple situations. He is a solid shooter that passes the ball well and the basketball IQ is phenomenal. Mark is seeing schools in the NAIA- D3 arena. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some D2s reach out.
Nikola Abusara Nikola Abusara 6'5" | SF Benet | 2023 State IL (Full Package) Benet
One of the surprising talents I caught this weekend. Nikola is a slashing and athletic forward who isn’t afraid to put guys at the rim. He works well off the ball in catch and shoot situations when working off the ball. Nikola has a nice handle that he uses to get in the lane. Abusara is very strong on baseline drives which usually end up in dunks. He is a small college prospect with lots of upside.
Quentin Heady Quentin Heady 6'5" | SF Hillcrest | 2023 State IL (Gods Gift) Hilcrest
Heady is a big shooter at 6’5. He has good touch similar to his older brother (Jakobi) but that where the similarities end. Quentin plays with grit and isn’t afraid to put his head down and get involved around the rim. Looking to have an expanded role for Hilcrest this season Heady will get some JUCO and small school looks.
Collin Wainscott Collin Wainscott 6'2" | PG Marmion Academy | 2023 State IL (IBA Stars) Marmion Academy
Collin is a crafty ball handler that plays the game right way. He has a good knack for finding guys in the right spot when being a facilitator. His best attribute this weekend was his shot making. Wainscott hit shots off the dribble at time from deep. Collin is a very heady player that small schools should watch.
Jaloni Johnson Jaloni Johnson 6'4" | SG Proviso East | 2023 State IL (Flee Club) Proviso East
Johnson is a very fun slashing guard that can pile up a bunch of points in a blink of an eye. The guard has some wiggle to his handle and is able to score in most tight situations. Not to be overshadowed is his shooting. He made several threes in the game we watched.
Kros Barrett (Team Rose) Curie
Smooth scoring guard that can hit shots from all three levels. He continued his streak of scoring 20+ a game in Chicago after having a solid weekend in Indianapolis. Kros has a shifty handle that he uses to beat his defender and create space. So far he’s hearing from small colleges.
Orlando James (Work Foundation) Morgan Park
Spark plug guard that uses positive energy from his defensive play to get the offensive side going. Orlando can pick up 94 feet and turn those into points after pick the ball handler. When running the PG spot James can get in the lane and find other pretty easy. He is overlooked at times because of his size but believe me Orlando plays with a ton of heart. JUCO and small colleges should monitor.
