However, we still were able to identify several top performers. Let’s dive on and breakdown six prospects that stood out this evening before we get right back in the gym to do it all again Saturday morning.
Darrin Ames Darrin Ames 6'1" | PG Kenwood | 2023 State #99 Nation IL (Kenwood Academy 2023/Mac Irvin Fire 2023 EYBL): Ames is an athletic, smooth, 6’3″ guard that truly can score it from all three levels. He has the consistent shooting stroke to get hot from deep and the strength to finish inside through contact. Very skilled offensive player that led Mac Irvin Fire with 18 points in a 20-point victory.
Noah Campbell Noah Campbell 5'10" | PG Willowbrook | 2023 IL (Willowbrook H.S. 2023/All in Athletics 2023 Gold): Despite his 5’10″ frame, Campbell may have been the toughest player on the floor on Friday night at the Chi-Town Tip-Off. The dynamic playmaker poured in 20 points in a loss to Mac Irvin Fire 2023 EYBL. He is excellent off of the dribble, has creative finishing ability inside, and can really shoot the basketball. Fun player to watch.
Cooper Farrall Cooper Farrall 6'5" | SF Culver Academy | 2023 State IN (Culver Academy 2023/Team GRIII 2023 Elite): The 6’6″ Farrall is no stranger to Prep Hoops top performers lists after a very strong start to the spring. On Friday evening Farrall scored 19 points getting it done from all over the floor in a dominating victory over M14 Hoops 2023 Adidas Gold.
Jalen Hooks Jalen Hooks 6'6" | SF Warren Central | 2023 State #282 Nation IN (Donda Academy 2023/Mac Irvin Fire 2023 EYBL): Since moving out west from Crispus Attucks H.S. in Indianapolis I admittedly haven’t seen much of this 4-star prospect. However, he played at a really high level on Friday night looking like a potential Top 100 prospect in the country. The 6’7″ athletic wing showed good ball handling ability and finished at the rim consistently.
Malachi Johnson Malachi Johnson 6'2" | SG Rockford Guilford | 2024 State IL (Guilford H.S. 2024/Team Rose 2024 3SSB): This is a prospect with the two-way potential that colleges coaches always are looking for. Johnson has the length and athleticism to be disruptive on the defensive end while having the skill level and shooting ability to fill it up offensively. Big time athlete!
Mike Jones Mike Jones 6'7" | PF Chi-Prep | 2025 State #164 Nation IL (Rockford Auburn H.S. 2024/Team Rose 2024 3SSB): One of the most individual impressive prospects at the Chi-Town Tip-Off on Friday night, the 6’6″ Jones showed why he is a Top 10 prospect in the Class of 2024 according to Prep Hoops Illinois.
